    John and Tamie Hales of Ash are the parents of a son, Luke Thomas Hales, born at 12:38 p.m. Oct. 8 at Betty H. Cameron Women & Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, weighing 8 pounds, 12 ounces and measuring 21 inches in length.
    He joins brothers Wyatt, 6, and Isaac, 3, and sister, Emily, 8.
    Maternal grandparents are Bessie Lou Thompson of Whiteville and the late Bernard Thompson.
    Paternal grandparents are Tom and Brenda Hales of Bladenboro.

    William Kelly Todd and Bridgette Ashley Anspaugh of Supply are the parents of a daughter, Annabella Faith Todd, born at 6:01 p.m. Oct. 3 at Brunswick Novant Medical Center, weighing 7 pounds,
    7 ounces and measuring 19-1/2 inches in length.
    Maternal grandparents are Heath and Tiffanie Inman of Supply and Curtis and Tammie Anspaugh of Charlotte.
    Paternal grandparents are Roy Douglas Jr. and Jayne Todd of Supply.

  • Stuecheli-Guthrie

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Elizabeth Stuecheli of Washington, D.C. and Jonathan Guthrie of Montgomery Village, Md. The bride-to-be is the daughter of James and Janet Stuecheli of Fairfax Station, Va. The prospective grooms grandparents are Elijah and Nancy Wilkerson of Ocean Isle Beach. A wedding date and location has not yet been determined.

    Calvin and Katie Smith of Winnabow are the parents of a daughter, Eden Marie Smith, born at 6:09 p.m. Sept. 21 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, weighing 6 pounds, 4 ounces and measuring 19 inches in length.
    Maternal grandparent is Juantia Wanger. Fraternal grandparent is Carolin Rochelle.
     

  • Alfrey-Hill wedding

    Meredith Lynn Alfrey and Addison Carson Hill, both of Tucker, Ga., were married July 16 at the 150-year-old Flint Hill Mansion in Norcross, Ga.
    The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Dr. Terry C. Walton of First United Methodist Church of Gainsville, Ga., in the gardens surrounding the mansion.
    The bride is the daughter of Herb and Donna Alfrey of Ducula, Ga., and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Roth of Ephrata, Pa., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Herb Alfrey of Godley, Texas.

  • Shoaf-St. George

    Lauren Ashlie Shoaf and Thomas P. St. George, both of Bolivia, were married Sept. 10 at Faith Community Chapel in Sunset Harbour.
    The Rev. Lewis Benton officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Terry and Donna Shoaf of High Point.
    She was given in marriage by her father.
    The groom is the son of Tommy and Cheryl St. George of Supply.
    A reception followed the ceremony at Cox’s Landing in Sunset Harbour.
    The couple resides in Bolivia.
     

  • Jolly-Jordan

    Amy Elizabeth Jolly of Shallotte and Scotty Earl Jordan of Conway, S.C., were married Sept. 10 on the beach at Pepper Tree by the Sea in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
    The Rev. Todd Underwood officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of John and Linda Eaton (mother) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Joel (father) and Peggy Jolly of Siler City.
    The groom is the son of Bobby and Linda Jordan of Galivant’s Ferry, S.C.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father and stepfather.

  • Hamilton-Hobbs

    Dana Carol Hamilton and James Jodale Hobbs were married Aug. 7 at the Southport Community Center, overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway.
    The Rev. J.D. Simmons of Pine Valley Church of God officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Hamilton III of Bolivia and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nichlious Corn II of Burnsville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hamilton Jr.

  • Needhams celebrate 60 years

    Basil “Boomer” and Doerthe Needham of Carolina Shores celebrated 60 years of love and devotion at a family reunion Oct. 7-8 at several beachfront cottages in Sunset Beach. They met in 1942 in their high school math class in Bayside, N.Y., while competing for the best test grades in the class.
    Boomer joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1946, graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 1950 and sailed as a deck officer with Grace Line for seven years, attaining the rank of lieutenant. He remained active in the U.S. Naval Reserve until 1957.

All friends and family are invited. The bride-elect is the daughter of Sherry Diaz of Supply and Osvaldo Diaz of Shallotte. The prospective groom is the son of Regina Lynn of Shallotte and Rocky Doan of Greeneville, Tenn.
