  • Hamilton-Hobbs

    Dana Carol Hamilton and James Jodale Hobbs were married Aug. 7 at the Southport Community Center, overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway.
    The Rev. J.D. Simmons of Pine Valley Church of God officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Hamilton III of Bolivia and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nichlious Corn II of Burnsville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hamilton Jr.

  • Needhams celebrate 60 years

    Basil “Boomer” and Doerthe Needham of Carolina Shores celebrated 60 years of love and devotion at a family reunion Oct. 7-8 at several beachfront cottages in Sunset Beach. They met in 1942 in their high school math class in Bayside, N.Y., while competing for the best test grades in the class.
    Boomer joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1946, graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 1950 and sailed as a deck officer with Grace Line for seven years, attaining the rank of lieutenant. He remained active in the U.S. Naval Reserve until 1957.

  • Diaz-Doan

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Melanie Ann Diaz and Rocky Lee Doan II, both of Supply, at 3 p.m. Oct. 1 at 5125 Maultsby Road in Leland. No invitations will be sent. All friends and family are invited. The bride-elect is the daughter of Sherry Diaz of Supply and Osvaldo Diaz of Shallotte. The prospective groom is the son of Regina Lynn of Shallotte and Rocky Doan of Greeneville, Tenn.

    Krista Marie Humphreys and John-Mark Humphreys, both of Ocean Isle Beach, were married Aug. 6 at the Calabash Elks Club in Calabash. The Rev. Margo R. Sears officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Jean Ussery of Tomahawk, Wis., and Harold Ussery Jr. of Carolina Shores. The groom is the son of Stella and Robert “Jerry” Humphreys of Calabash.
    Maid of honor was Paula Crossfield and Molly Borski was matron of honor.

  • Hall

    Jason and Faith Hall of Shallotte are the parents of a daughter, Jordyn Kalee Hall, born at 2:05 a.m. Aug. 16 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
    She joins a brother, Jacob, 9, and a sister, Jayden, 6.
    Maternal grandparent is Ellen Leonard of Shallotte.
    Paternal grandparents are Sandra Miller of Supply and the late Ronald Miller.
    Great-grandparents are the late Fred and Joyce Leonard.

  • Lutomski-Munna

    Ann Lutomski of Leland and Jerome C. Munna Jr. of Shallotte were married Sept. 7 at Holden Beach on the waterway. The Rev. Dr. Garrett Albertson officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Anthony and Daisy Lutomski of Elmira, N.Y. She was given in marriage by her sons, Ryan and Garrett Bigg.
    The groom is the son of Jerome Munna of Supply and Vicky Munna of Vinton, Va.
    Kim Fanelli of Wilmington served as maid of honor.
    Best man was Ian Munna of Shallotte, the groom’s son.

    Jennifer Lynne Pratt and William David Chandler, both of Wilmington, were married June 4 at Farmstead Golf Links in Calabash. The couple’s closest friends and family attended the intimate ceremony, which took place on the first tee of the groom’s family business.

    Sandra Irene Holbrooks and Thomas Marion Bailey, both of Ocean Isle Beach, were married July 30 at their residence in Ocean Isle Beach.

    Elaine Pigott officiated the ceremony.

  • DeMartes celebrate 40 years

    Tony and Constance DeMarte of Sunset Beach celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on July 24. They were married in St. Mary’s Church in St. Marys, Pa. The anniversary celebration included Mass at St. Brendan Catholic Church with dinner at The Isles Restaurant hosted by their children, Jason and his wife Rebecca; and granddaughters, Ashley and Amanda and Nathan, and his fiancee Taira McTurner.
