  • Odoms celebrate 70th wedding anniversary

     Mr. Julian and Mrs. Jerry Odom of Sunset Harbor were honored with a surprise celebration of their 70th wedding anniversary with friends from Brunswick Senior Resource's Senior Nutrition Site and the Sunset Harbor community. Pastor Wayne Tuttle led the couple in a special ceremony as they renewed their wedding vows. Julian Odom is a Navy veteran of World War II.

  • Air Force Airman 1st Class Lynisa M. Aubin graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

     Air Force Airman 1st Class Lynisa M. Aubin graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

    Aubin, who graduated from North Brunswick High School in Leland, completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

    North Carolina Coastal Pines congratulates Trisha Angelique Apple of Ash for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.

  • Garcia-Mendez graduates from basic military training

     Air Force Airman Olivia S. Garcia-Mendez graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. She is the daughter of Fernando Garcia of Shallotte and Juan M. Garcia of Oklahoma City, Okla., niece of Jorge Garcia of Brunswick County and the wife of Carloa Mendez.

     

    Garcia-Mendez graduated from basic military training completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

  • Grissetts’ 50th wedding anniversary

     Malcolm J. and Brenda Todd Grissett of Ocean Isle Beach celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary March 7 at a surprise reception at Beulah Baptist Church. Their family and special friends honored them for 50 years of faith and love that have been filled with blessings from above.

  • Chandler graduates from CCAF

     Senior Airman Tydaryll L. Chandler, son of Rebecca R. Castaneda of Shallotte, graduated and received an associate degree in applied science from the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF). He is a 2009 graduate of West Brunswick High School in Shallotte.

  • Brownings celebrate first anniversary

     Albert and Lisa Browning are celebrating their first anniversary Saturday, April 4, with a dinner for invited guests, friends and family at their residence in Shallotte.

  • Sullivan birth

     William and Laura Sullivan of Supply are the proud parents of a son, William Parker Sullivan, born at 11:33 p.m. Nov. 13, 2014, at Betty H. Cameron Women’s and Children’s Hospital, on the campus of New Hanover Regional Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds, 13-1/2 ounces and measured 20-1/2 inches in length.

    He joins a brother, William Cooper Sullivan, 9.

    Maternal grandparents are Ernie and Barbara Galloway of Varnamtown.

    Paternal grandparents are Curtis and Mary Sullivan of Winnabow.

  • Consalvo- Fulford engagement

     Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Christina Marie Consalvo and Justin Alford Fulford, both of Bolivia. The bride-elect is the daughter of Gene and Linda Consalvo of Pinehurst. The prospective groom is the son of Al and Teresa Fulford of Supply. An April 11 wedding is planned during a private ceremony on Holden Beach.
