    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Stacey Lynette McDonald and Travis Len Greer, both of Supply. The bride-elect is the daughter of Gary and Linda McDonald of Supply. The prospective groom is the son of Tim and Regina Greer of Statesville. A May 14 wedding is planned at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.

    Gilbert completes  basic training

    Air Force Airman Gregory Gilbert Jr., son of Letha H. Malloy and grandson of Mamie Hollins, both of Winnabow, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

  • Hanson-Maynard engagement

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Tammy Koonce Hanson and Ricky Maynard Jr., both of Boiling Spring Lakes. The bride is the daughter of Aline Corbett Harrell of Boiling Spring Lakes and Edward ‘Pete’ Koonce of Ramseaur. She is employed by the Brunswick County Health Department. The prospective groom is the son of Patty Hinkle Maynard of Castle Hayne and Ricky Maynard Sr. and Betty Maynard of Houston, Texas. He is employed by Mundy Maintenance. A May 28 wedding is planned at Riverside Community Center in Castle Hayne.

    Gregory A. Fluharty, son of Gregory and Anjanette Fluharty of Leland, has joined the United States Air Force under the Delayed Entry Program.

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Lee Ina Andrews Kissell and Kevin Andrew Smith, both of Ash. The bride-elect is the daughter of Jerry and Judy Andrews of Ash. The prospective groom is the son of Monroe and Thelma Smith of Ash. An April 30 wedding is planned at Soldier Bay Baptist Church in Ash.

    Chandler joins Air Force

    Tydaryll L. Chandler, son of Mark Chandler and Rebecca Castaneda of Shallotte, has joined the United States Air Force under the Delayed Entry Program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to enlist and delay going into basic military training for up to one year.

  • Solano graduates from basic

    Solano graduates from basic

    Air Force Airman Jonathan F. Solano, son of Teresa Fike of Shallotte, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

    Solano completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

    Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Bo Allena Ellis of Shallotte and Daniel Mark Jankowski of Supply. The bride-elect is the daughter of Cecil Allen Ellis Sr. of Shallotte and Peggy Hewett Alred of Graysville, Ala. The prospective groom is the son of Mark and Jennifer Jankowski of Supply. A May 14 wedding is planned at Ocean Isle Beach Park.

     

                 

  • Tran completes military training

    Army National Guard Spec. Jennifer L. Tran, daughter of Liem T. Tran of Charlotte and Susan T. Arnold of Winnabow, has graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo., which included basic military training and advanced individual training (AIT).

    During basic military training, Tran received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons qualification, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army doctrine, history, principles and traditions.
