  • Britt-Kopitzki wedding

    Gladys Britt of Supply and Ray Kopitzki of Medina, N.Y., were married on Sept. 14 at Niagara Falls. Britt is employed at Walgreens in Holden Beach and Kopitzki is retired. They will reside in Supply.

  • Holleman-Rogerson wedding

    April Dawn Holleman of Kure Beach and Adam Wesley Rogerson of Supply were married Sept. 18 at sunrise on Wrightsville Beach.

    The Rev. Tracy Pryor officiated the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Holleman Jr. of Leland. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Rogerson of Roanoke Rapids.

    The bride was given in marriage and escorted by her father.

    Misty Nichols of Kernersville, the bride’s cousin, served as matron of honor. 

    Billy Rogerson, the groom’s father, served as best man.

  • Smith-Garrett engagement

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Pauline H. Smith and David D. Garrett of Shallotte. The bride-elect is the daughter of Paul E. Harris Sr. of New Bern. She is a graduate of Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth. The prospective groom is the son of Brenda Garrett of Manning, S.C. He is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. An Oct. 2 wedding is planned at Sunset Beach. Family and friends are invited to a reception at the Calabash Fire Department in Calabash at 3 p.m.

  • Yauns celebrate 50 years

    Ralph and Sandra Yaun of Leland celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 10 at the First Baptist Church activity center in Wilmington. The couple was married on Sept. 10, 1960, at the Calypso Presbyterian Church in Calypso. Hosting the party were the couple’s children and grandchild, son Chris Yaun and wife Shari of Leland, granddaughter Emily Kathleen Yaun and daughter Rebecca Angela Yaun of Leland. Numerous friends and relatives were also in attendance.

  • Vrooman-Henson engagement

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Alison Dru Vrooman of Charleston, S.C., and Andrew Thomas Henson of Ocean Isle Beach. The bride-elect is the daughter of Dennis B. and Carol J. Vrooman of Tulsa, Okla. The prospective groom is the son of John L. and Cindy R. Henson of Ocean Isle Beach. A Nov. 6 wedding is planned at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charleston, S.C.

  • Tomlinson birth

    Maggie and John Tomlinson of Charlotte are the parents of a boy, Reynolds Mason Tomlinson, born at 1:22 p.m. July 7 at Charlotte Presbyterian.

    He joins a sister, Ava Jane, 3.

    Maternal grandparents are Patty and Terry Garrison of Holden Beach and Alan and Karen Nealeans of Lewisville.

    Paternal grandparents are Don Tomlinson of Asheville and the late Jane Tomlinson.

    Great-grandparents are Carolyn and Bill Tomlinson of Georgia.

    Great-great-grandparent is Pearl Brockwell of Chapel Hill.

  • Korps celebrate 70 years

    Matthew and Theresa Korp of Ocean Isle Beach celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary at a party hosted by their children on July 16 at the MAC Center at Sea Trail Plantation in Sunset Beach. The couple was married in Belvidere, N.J., on Sept. 7, 1940. Since their marriage, they have lived in New Jersey, Florida and North Carolina. They have five children, 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

     Amanda Jenkins and Travis Hayes, both of Supply, were married July 25 at Southport.

    The ceremony was officiated by Scott Riley.

    Angie Brakefield and Anita Roseboro were maid/matron of honor.

    Bridesmaids were Meghan McLeod and Brandy Parker.

    Flower girl was Jennifer Brakefield.

    Ringbearer was Noah Hayes.

    Chris Parrish and Gerald Pittman were best men.

    Groomsmen were Trevor McDonald and Gene Evans.

  • Hotop-Tate wedding

    Sarah Kathryn Hotop and Travis Lowell Tate, both of Stafford, Va., were married July 31 at St. Francis of Asissi Church in Triangle, Va.

    The Rev. John Heffernan officiated.

    The bride is the daughter of William and Diana Hotop of Ocean Isle Beach. The groom is the son of Tim and the late Joanne Tate.

    The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

    Debby Hyduke and Martha Hess, sisters of the bride, served as maid/matron of honor.

    Bridesmaid was Jamie Ritenour, friend of the bride.

    Cheyenne Smith served as flower girl.
