  • McRoberts-Otto

    Jennifer H. McRoberts of Charlotte and Darren M. Otto of Charlotte were married May 15 at Ocean Isle Beach Chapel, with the Rev. Eddie Hill officiating.

    The bride is the daughter of John F. and Bernice McRoberts of Ocean Isle Beach. 

    She given in marriage and escorted by her parents.

    The groom is the son of Bob and Gail Otto of Charlotte.

    Bridesmaids  were Trina Woodlief of Charleston, S.C., Mary Russ Pendergras of Ocean Isle Beach, Susan Meyers of Charlotte and Cindy Usher of Charlotte.

    Flower girl was Lilly Woodlief.

  • Hawks celebrate 50 years

    Tommy and Ruth Hawks of Winston-Salem celebrated their 50th anniversary June 13. The couple was married in 1960 and bought their first beach home at Holden Beach in 1989. They have three children and three grandchildren.

  • Fulford-Clements

    Amanda Fulford of Shallotte and Frederick Clements of Southport were married May 14 at United Vision Petecostal Church.
    The Rev. Maurice Milligan officiated the service.
    The bride is the daughter of Randy and Janis Fulford of Shallotte. She was given in marriage by her parents.
    The groom is the son of James and Sabrina Clements of Southport.
    Miranda Crouch of Shallotte, the bride’s sister, served as matron of honor. Cortney Mills of Myrtle Beach, S.C., served as bridesmaid.

  • Villepique-Hickey

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Holly Ann Villepique of Silver Spring, Md., and John K. Hickey of Greenbelt, Md.

    The bride is the daughter of Beth Naylor of Ocean Isle Beach and David Villepique of Chester, N.J.

    She is a 1988 graduate of Bernards High School in Bernardsville, N.J., a 1992 graduate of Hope College in Holland, Mich., and a 1997 and 2003 graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing.

    She is employed as a pediatric nurse practitioner at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

     Martha D. Lee and Bruce W. Quaintance were married May 15 at the Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas.

    The wedding took place at 8 p.m. on the Terrazza Di Sogno overlooking Lago Di Como and Bellagio Fountains.

    The bride is the owner of Martha Lee Realty Company in Holden Beach and Ocean Isle Beach.

    The groom is the owner of Quaintance Inc. and Bruce’s Construction on Ocean Isle Beach.

    The couple resides on Ocean Isle Beach.

  • Johnson birth

     

    Brandon Johnson and Heather Rhodes of Erwin are the parents of a son, Gavin Malachi Johnson, born at 12:30 p.m. May 6 at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital.

    He weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

    He joins a sister, Alana Ann Johnson, 2 1/2.

    Maternal grandparents are Marsha Rhodes of Supply and David Rhodes of Civietown.

    Paternal grandparents are Bill and Beverly Johnson of Erwin and Daniel and Jean Smith of Ash.

    Great-grandparents are Leo and Louise Hewett of Supply.

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Tina Gore and Russell Gainey. The couple will be married June 5 at Emmanuel Outreach Church.

    Announcement is made of the engagement of Katherine Gaskin, daughter of Chuck and Lori Gaskin of Advance, and Joshua Reeves, son of Dwight and Susan Reeves of Ocean Isle Beach. The couple will be married June 27 at the Southport Community Center in Southport. The bride-elect is a 2006 graduate of Davie County High School and is enrolled at East Carolina University. She is employed as a freelance photographer. The prospective groom is a 2006 graduate of West Brunswick High School and is enrolled in East Carolina University, where he is employed as a graduate assistant.

  • Robbins birth

    Josh and Christy (Haik) Robbins of Winnabow are the parents of a son, Heath Allen Robbins, born April 27.
    He weighed 10 pounds, 8 ounces and was 21 inches long.
    Grandparents are Gene and Bea Haik of Southport; Johnny and Sheila Grainger of Supply; and Keith and Barbara Robbins of Winnabow.
    Great-grandparents are Dennis Lee and Patsy Lewis of Winnabow; Charley and Elizabeth Foster of Supply, and Elbert and Joyce Robbins of Nakina.
