  • Bakers celebrate 60 years

    Martin and Wilma Baker of Palm Coast, Fla., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary by taking their family, nieces and nephews on a five-day cruise beginning Nov. 24. The Bakers married in 1948, when they were both teachers at Waccamaw High School. Wilma Baker is the former Wilma Phelps of Ash. Martin Baker is a native of Marietta, S.C. In 1951, they moved to Marietta, where they managed Baker Pharmacy and were active in mobile home park development. In 1989, they retired to Palm Coast.

  • Granade birth

    Grant Granade and Ellen Wemyss Granade of Calabash are the parents of a son, Eli James Granade, born at 11:01 a.m. Oct. 23 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

    He joins a brother, Garrett, 2.

    Maternal grandparents are Phil and Nancy Wemyss of Ocean Isle Beach.

    Paternal grandparents are Hugh and Elaine Granade and Bill and Gayle Lauer, all of Knoxville, Tenn.

    Great-grandparents are Virginia Bellamy of Ocean Isle Beach and William Richardson of Orangeburg, S.C.

  • Lane-Keogh

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Tracy H. Lane of Ocean Isle Beach and John M. Keogh of Tipperary-Thurles, Ireland.     The bride is the daughter of Joseph and Janet Fritz of Sunset Beach, formerly of Troy, N.Y.

    The groom is the son of Patsy and Tom Burns of Mechanicville, N.Y.

    Jennifer Nicole Quaintance and Gordon William Nash Jr. were married Aug. 23 at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

    The Rev. Thomas Clymer officiated the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Bruce Quaintance of Ocean Isle Beach and Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Robinson of Carolina Shores.

    The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Nash Sr. of Wilmington, Pat Sandifer of Holden Beach and the late David Sandifer.

  • How to protect your plants this winter
