  • Johnson-Britt

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Devan Ashley Johnson and Glenn ‘Shane‘ Britt Jr., both of Supply. The bride-elect is the daughter of Van and Pam Johnson of Supply. The prospective groom is the son of Glenn Britt and Rhonda H. Britt, both of Sunset Harbor. A June 6 wedding is planned at the Southport Community Building.

  • 80th birthday

    Annie Sellers Phelps, a life-long resident of Brunswick County and Prospect Baptist Church member, celebrates her 80th birthday on Dec. 14. She was given a surprise birthday party by her daughter, Donna, attended by many of her friends at Ella’s Restaurant in Calabash. She also has a son, Hal. Her favorite pastime is working in her flower garden.

  • Edge-Lowrance

    Amy Elizabeth Edge and Kenny Lowrance were married Nov. 29 at the Rourk Woods Clubhouse in Shallotte.

    Jean and Fran Pelletier officiated the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Tom Edge and Pat Conrad. The groom is the son of Ken Lowrance of Huntersville and the late Janice Lowrance.

    The bride was given in marriage and escorted by her father.

    Melanie Grammen served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jenny Byrd, Katie Lowrance, Elizabeth Lowrance and Shannon Helms.

  • Brown-Parker

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Mary Stephanie Brown of Wilmington and Albert Hemingway Parker III of Ocean Isle Beach. The bride is the daughter of Steve and Joanna Brown of Supply and the granddaughter of Frances Brown of Supply, the late Stanton Brown, Mary Simmons of Supply and the late Rudy Simmons. The groom is the son of Al and Ramona Parker of Supply and the grandson of Albert and Kathleen Parker of Supply, Mae Milligan of Ash and the late Bob Milligan.

  • Hobgood birth

    John and Tracy Hobgood of Ocean Isle Beach are the parents of a daughter, Noelle Ann Hobgood, born at 3:45 p.m., Dec. 12.

    She weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 21–1/2 inches long.

    She joins a brother, Nathan, 23 months.

    Maternal grandparents are Cliff and Lynn Errickson of Sunset Beach.

    Paternal grandparents are Bob and Nancy Hobgood of Greenville.

    Great-grandparents are Sam and Dottie Panettiori of Sunset Beach and Doris Hobgood of Jacksonville, Fla.

  • Singletarys celebrate 50 years

    Pete and Augusta K. Singletary of Holden Beach celebrated 50 years of marriage Dec. 25. They were married in 1958 at Sharon United Methodist Church in Supply. They now have two daughters, Opal S. Hayes and Rita S. Elliott, and four granddaughters, all in Supply.

    Heather Huff and Shawn Earney of Leland are the parents of a daughter, Reagan Leanne Earney, born at 5:43 a.m. Nov. 20 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

    She weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Ann and Walter Huff of Loris, S.C.

    Paternal grandparents are Leanne and Rocky Earney of Supply.

  • Mauck-Bailey

    Cabell Layne Mauck and Andrew Nelson Bailey were married Dec. 13 at First Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Va.

    The Rev. Mary Kay Collins officiated the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Newbill Mauck III of Richmond.

    She was given in marriage and escorted by her parents.

    The groom is the son of Laurie Anne Nelson of Ocean Isle Beach and George William Bailey Jr. of Charlottesville, Va.

    Caroline Neville Grumbine of Boston, the bride’s cousin, served as maid of honor.

  • Maresca-Madison

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Veronica Maresca of Ash and Tim Madison of Shallotte. The bride-elect is the daughter of Ann Maresca of Sunset Beach. The prospective groom is the son of Evelyn Madison of Shallotte and John Madison of Shallotte Point. A Feb. 21, 2009, wedding is planned in Charleston, S.C. After a honeymoon in the Caribbean, the couple will reside in Ash.

  • Bolig celebrates 80th birthday

    Joyce Ann Bolig, formerly of Lionville, Pa., now a 14-year resident of Carolina Shores, recently celebrated her 80th birthday at the Calabash VFW with her many friends and family. The guests were entertained by Peggy Lenard & Her Bag Pipes. Everyone enjoyed the Buffet catered by the Calabash Deli. Bolig is active in her church, sings in the choir and is a member of the Red Hats. She keeps busy working part time at Toby's Old World Gift Shoppe in Little River, S.C.
