  • Evans celebrates 80th

    Charles Ashley Evans of Holden Beach celebrated his 80th birthday Sunday, Jan. 25, with his wife of more than 50 years, Betty Jean Evans. Family and friends gathered at the Boundary House of Calabash to share a birthday dinner and cake. Friends included Billy and Becky Barnette, Bill and Susan Bailey, Becky and Dale Prevatte, Don and Nancy Burke and Debbie and Jim Kroset. The Evans’ daughter, Joan Grady, also attended the event and thanked the couple’s friends for the party.

  • Abbott birth

    Matthew and Kasey Abbott of Shallotte are the parents of a son, Garrison Matthew Abbott, born at 4:19 a.m., Jan. 17, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

    He weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces, and measured 20 inches long.

    He joins a brother, Gabriel, 3 1/2, and a sister Olivia, 19 months.

    Maternal grandparents are Kay Hewett of Bolivia and Junior Hewett of Supply.

    Paternal grandparents are Ann Abbott of Ocean Isle Beach and the late Reg Abbott.

  • Chadwick birth

    Barry and Tracey Berry Chadwick announce the birth of their twin daughters Charlotte Elizabeth and Carson Leigh, born Jan. 18 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System.

    Maternal grandparents are Jack and Peggy Berry of Whiteville.

    Paternal grandparents are Greg and Delores White of Supply and Southport.

    Great grandparents are Junior and Lou Ellen White of Supply, Hilda Hewett of Supply and the late Carson Hewett.

  • Hardee-Richardson

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Allison Hardee of Shallotte and Randy Richardson of Bolivia. The bride-elect is the daughter of Grace Stone of Ocean Isle Beach and the late Ronald Hardee of McColl, S.C., and the granddaughter of the late Julia Edwards of Laurinburg and the late Hyman and Nevada Hardee of McColl. The prospective groom is the son of Pat Lynch of Maryland and Liston Richardson of Bolivia. A Jan. 31 wedding is planned.

    Walt and Mary Ann Sellers of Ocean Isle Beach are the parents of a son, Samuel Vincent Sellers, born at 7:01 p.m., Jan. 3, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

    He weighed 9 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 22 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Doreen Pragel of Calabash and the late Vincent Pragel.

    Paternal grandparents are Gene and Emily Sellers of Supply.

  • Polomis-Mackey

    Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Peterson of Shallotte announce the engagement of their granddaughter, Jennifer K. Polomis, daughter of the late Michelle J. Polomis, to Kristopher Scott-William Mackey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mackey of Concord, Ohio. The bride-elect is employed as a registered nurse at Cleveland Clinic is Cleveland, Ohio. Her fiance is vice-president of Monode Marking Products of Cleveland. A June wedding is planned.

  • Walker-Kittrell

    Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Walker of Supply announce the engagement of their daughter, Natasha Ann Walker, to Daniel Brooks Kittrell II, son of Selena Kittrell of Asheville and the late Daniel Brooks Kittrell. A fall wedding is being planned.

  • Hardee-Bath

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Heather Lynn Hardee of Shallotte and Sanford ‘Sandy‘ Daniel Bath Jr. of Bolivia. The bride-elect is the daughter of Gene and Merle Gray Hardee of Ocean Isle Beach and the granddaughter of the late Robert and Lina Hawes of Shallotte. The prospective groom is the son of Sanford Bath Sr. and Sandra Bath of Bolivia. A Sept. 12 wedding is planned.

  • Johnson-Britt

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Devan Ashley Johnson and Glenn ‘Shane‘ Britt Jr., both of Supply. The bride-elect is the daughter of Van and Pam Johnson of Supply. The prospective groom is the son of Glenn Britt and Rhonda H. Britt, both of Sunset Harbor. A June 6 wedding is planned at the Southport Community Building.

  • 80th birthday

    Annie Sellers Phelps, a life-long resident of Brunswick County and Prospect Baptist Church member, celebrates her 80th birthday on Dec. 14. She was given a surprise birthday party by her daughter, Donna, attended by many of her friends at Ella’s Restaurant in Calabash. She also has a son, Hal. Her favorite pastime is working in her flower garden.
