  • Boles-Berry wedding

     Mary Elizabeth Boles of Shallotte and Herman Waddell Berry of Shallotte were married April 2. Rev. Dr. Vaughn R. Cherry of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church officiated the ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage and escorted by John Edmond King. A reception followed the ceremony at the South Brunswick Islands Center in Calabash

  • Berry Jarvis earns rank of Eagle Scout
  • Clark graduates from basic

     Air Force Airman Harvey D. Clark Jr. graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland inTexas.

    Clark completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

    Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

  • Fiore celebrates 80th birthday

     Ann Fiore of Calabash, formerly of New Jersey, will celebrate her 80thbirthday March 4, 2017.

  • Billeaud-Richardson engagement

     Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Ripley Billeaud and Joel Richardson, both of Greensboro. The bride-elect is the daughter of Rhonda and Greg Billeaud of Whiteville. The prospective groom is the son of Missy and Steve Richardson of Clarkton. A March 11, 2017, wedding is planned in Jacksonville, Fla.

  • Rios graduates from basic

    U.S. Air Force Airman Jorge L. Rios, son of Maria C. Benjamin of Leland, has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas.

  • Frink/Fulford engagement

     Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Tiffani Nikole Frink and Nicholas Patrick Fulford.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Frink of Shallotte. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and is a third-grade teacher at Virginia Williamson Elementary School in Bolivia.

    The prospective groom is the son of Van and Sharon Fulford of Supply. He is co-owner of Fulford Concrete in Supply.

    An April wedding is planned at The Barn at Rock Creek in Leland.

  • Frink birth

     Sam and Hannah Frink of Smithfield, Va., are the parents of a son, Samuel Mason Frink, born at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 14, 2016, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Va., weighing 7 pounds, 3.5 ounces and measuring 19.68 inches in length.

     

    Maternal grandparents are Joe and Susan Aldrich of Charlotte. Paternal grandparents are Fletcher and Kelley Frink of Sunset Beach.

    Great-grandparents are Peggy Miller and Janet (Corky) Dancy and great-great grandfather is Douglas Aldrich.

  • Flythes celebrate 50th anniversary

     Dr. William and Beatrice Flythe celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 30, 2016, at the Southport Community Building with almost 70 family members and friends. The couple met at Johnson C. Smith University in the fall of 1963. They were married Dec. 23, 1966.

  • Southport sailor Harris continues 75 years of Seabee tradition

         “We Build, We Fight” has been the motto of the U. S. Navy’s Construction Force, known as the Seabees for the past 75 years. Southport native and South Brunswick High School graduate, Petty Officer 2nd Class Wayne Harris, builds and fights around the world as a member of a naval construction battalion center in Port Hueneme, Calif.
