  • Deaton-Dillahay announce engagement

     Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Natalia Deaton of Southport and Chad Dillahay of Supply. The bride-elect is the daughter of Valeria Causey of Southport. The prospective groom is the son of Mitch and Kelli Dillahay of Supply and Donna Luzader of Southport. An Aug. 30 wedding is planned at Sunset Harbour. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony.

  • Mottola graduates from basic training

     Air Force Airman Adriana C. Mottola, daughter of Wayne Metters of Supply and niece of Pamela Williams of Leland, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

    Mottola completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

  • Couples celebrate 40th wedding anniversaries

     Louis and Barbara Berinoto and Bill and Louise Gerber celebrate their 40th wedding anniversaries at Brunswick Plantation by renewing their vows before family and friends Saturday, July 19. They have been friends since their high school days in New Jersey where they resided until relocating here seven years ago.

  • Gause celebrates first birthday

     Tayvion Gause is celebrating his first birthday Wednesday, July 23. Love from Mommy, MiMi, Papa, Aunt Selena, Aunt Nekevia and Uncle Malik.

  • Sloups celebrate 50th anniversary

     William Charles Sloup Jr. and Margot Stanton Sloup of Southport are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with their family. They were married July 11, 1964, in Elyria, Ohio. The couple has two sons and a granddaughter. 

  • Alec Boyd Marmura baptism

     St. Brendan the Navigator Roman Catholic Church in Shallotte welcomes Alec Boyd Marmura, who was baptized July 4. From left are William H. Marmura, Stacey B. Marmura, Michael J. Marmura, Father Ryszard Kolodziej and Janet R. Marmura. Tina D. and Matthew T. Marmura are godparents.

  • Hoggard celebrates 100th birthday

     Bessie Hoggard, a resident of Autumn Care of Shallotte who turned 100 on May 31, is honored with a birthday party by Becky and Dell Prevatte, her daughter and son-in-law, in The Palms on May 30. Formerly from Fayetteville, Hoggard is a 30-year retired Fort Bragg civil service employee.

  • Clemmons-Hardee marry

     Kristi Leigh Clemmons of Supply and Michael Brandon Hardee of Calabash were married Sept. 28, 2013, in Calabash.

    The Rev. Jason Benton officiated the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Kim and Dale Leo Clemmons Sr. of Supply.

    The groom is the son of Verma and Randy Hardee of Calabash.

    The bride was given in marriage and escorted by her father.

    Ashley Clemmons of Supply, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor.

  • Hewett family reunion

     The 24th annual Joseph Hewett Sr. and Hanna Leonard Hewett family reunion will be Saturday, June 21, at Trinity Baptist Church, 883 Holden Beach Road SW. Presentations and updates will start at 9 a.m.

    Brunswick County Commissioner Marty Cooke will discuss the Brunswick County Comprehensive Historical Survey. David Holden, president of the Brunswick County Historical Society, will discuss “Historical and Environmental Factors Affecting our Ancestors.”

  • Navy commissions Williams

     Navy Ensign Kenyon L. Williams, son of George L. and Alicia B. Williams of Leland, graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and was commissioned to his current rank.
