    Church plans Nov. 16 service

    The Rev. Earsken Howard Moody and the Pleasant Hill Church of Shallotte will be in services at Greater Tabernacle Church of Longwood on Nov. 16.

    Services will begin at 4 p.m.

  • How to protect your plants this winter

    In this area of North Carolina, protecting your plants from cold is easy enough to do, since our winters are very mild; however, certain plants need protection from the cold to survive the winter months. Protecting your plants in winter does not mean you have to keep them warm; it simply means providing protection from damaging winds, snow, ice, alternate freezing and thawing of the soil and heat from the sun on very cold days.

  • Stevens-Wynne

    Rebecca Stevens and Scott Wynne were married Nov. 1 at Faith Baptist Church in Bolivia, with the Rev. John Sellars officiating.

    The bride is the daughter of Wayne and Linda Stevens of Winnabow.

    The groom is the son of Albert and Wendy Wynne of Winnabow.

    Bride was given in marriage and escorted by her father.

    Matron of honor was Tamara Bernard, sister of the bride.

    Bridesmaids were Jennifer Holden, sister of the bride, Katie Moore and April Harvell, the groom’s cousin.

    Fower girl was Alexia Bernard, the bride’s niece.

  • Randolph-Williams

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Nekesha Randolph of Bolivia and Roderick Williams of Harrells. The bride-elect is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Willie O. Randolph Jr. of Bolivia. The prospective groom is the son of Jeffrey and Hilda Draughon of Harrells and the late Robert Williams. A Dec. 20 wedding is planned at Macedonia Baptist Church in Wilmington.

    Cane and Brea Faircloth of Holden Beach are the parents of a daughter, Isabella Grace Faircloth, born at 4:09 p.m. Nov. 5 at Brunswick Community Hospital.

    Maternal grandmother is Cathy C. Brown of Ocean Isle Beach.

    Paternal grandparents are Sheri Fulford of Holden Beach and Jamie Faircloth of Columbus.

    Great-grandparents are Katherine Causey of Loris, S.C., Ina Lee Fulford of Holden Beach and Herman and Eric Faircloth of Holden Beach.

  • Jones-Wash

    Elizabeth Megan Jones and Jonathan Martin Wash were married Oct. 25 on Sullivans Island, S.C., with the Rev. Peter Jorgensen officiating.

    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Alan Jones of Mount Pleasant , S.C., and formerly of Brunswick County.

    The groom is the son of Nancy Brame of Mount Pleasant and Russell Wash of Atlanta, Ga.

    The bride was given in marriage and escorted by her parents.

    Maid of honor was Sable Jones of Mount Pleasant, the bride’s sister.

    Phil and Nancy Wemyss of Ocean Isle Beach have announced the forthcoming marriage of their son, James Wemyss of Ocean Isle Beach, to Crystal Driver of Supply, the daughter of Tom and Shirley Driver of Supply. An April 2009 wedding is planned at Orton Plantation.

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Melissa Ann Mercer of Clayton, formerly of Supply, to Adam Thomas Rynearson of Clayton. The bride-elect is the daughter of Wesley and Vickie Mercer of Shallotte and the granddaughter of the late Delcie Graley and Bob Graley, Janice Pridgen of Whiteville and John Mercer of Wilmington. She is a 2004 graduate of West Brunswick High School. The prospective groom is the son of Bob and Gina Fry of Raleigh and Roger Rynearson of Iowa and the grandson of Erica Worley and the late Dale Worley. A Nov.

  • Reynolds birth

    Brian and Lauren Reynolds of Ash are the parents of a son, Dylan Heath Reynolds, born at 12:37 p.m. Oct. 3 at Brunswick Community Hospital.

    He weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and measured  21 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Michael and Elise Pierce of Ocean Isle Beach.

    Paternal grandparents are Dewayne and Regina Reynolds of Lake Waccamaw.

    Great-grandparents are Brady and Jackie Little of Ash, Charles and Helda Reynolds of Lake Waccamaw, Edward and Sarah Pierce of Tennessee and Aline Pierce of Florida.

  • Brown-Todd

    Stacey Anne Brown and Jack O’Dell Todd were married Oct. 5 at Ocean Isle Beach.

    The bride is the daughter of Beth Johnson and John Fellner of Shallotte. The groom is the son of Jack and Wilma Todd of Ocean Isle Beach.

    The Rev. Lamar Boulware officiated the ceremony. Family and friends attended.

    The couple resides at Ocean Isle Beach.
