  • Banks-Bland

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Letonia Nicole Banks of Riegelwood and Herman Douglas Bland of Shallotte. The bride-elect is the daughter of Stanley and Helen Banks of Riegelwood. The prospective groom is the son of Henry and Mary Clifton and Herman Williams Jr. of Shallotte. A July 5 wedding is planned at United Faith Ministries in Elizabethtown.

  • Green-Coupland

    Mary Robinson Green and John Buchanan Coupland Jr., both of Raleigh, were married June 14 at Shallotte Presbyterian Church with minister Dwight O. Christenbury officiating.

    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Sellars Green of Ocean Isle Beach.

    The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Buchanan Coupland Sr. of Durham.

    The bride was given in marriage and escorted by her father.

    The bride wore a strapless sheath gown of ivory silk charmeuse overlaid with antique ivory alacon lace.

  • Brookers celebrate 40 years

    Mr. and Mrs. Alex Brooker of Ocean Isle Beach are celebrating 40 years of marriage. Together since high school, they married on June 8, 1968, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, Md. The couple lived in Maryland, Virginia and New Hampshire while raising two children and having a successful 30-year career with Sears Roebuck & Company. In 2002, the couple moved South to enjoy retirement by the beach. They have two children and two grandchildren. The couple celebrated by taking a trip to New Orleans with close friends.

    Vicki Morgan and Robert Becker of Ocean Isle Beach were married May 23 at Ocean Isle Beach.

    The Rev. Lisa Mosca officiated the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Bob and Beatrice D’Angelo of Topsail Beach.

    The groom is the son of George and Jean Becker of Asheville.

    The bride was given in marriage and escorted by her son, Bryan Morgan.

    Veronica Walker of Bolivia, the bride’s daughter, served as matron of honor.

    Maid of honor was Eleyna D’Angelo of Kings Mountain, the bride’s niece.

  • Webb-Sullivan

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Rebecca D. Webb, of Supply, and Daniel J. Sullivan of Sunset Beach. The bride-elect is the daughter of Wayne and Virginia Honeycutt of Supply. The prospective groom is the son Danny and Lynn Sullivan of Sunset Beach. A July 26 private ceremony is planned.

  • Collier-Leonard

    Clayton Horace Collier III and Leslie Zachary Collier of Oak Island, announce the engagement of their daughter, Lynsey Paige, to Joseph William Leonard V. Leonard is the son of Barbara Leonard of Naples, Fla. and the late Joseph William Leonard IV. Originally from Charleston, W.Va., he received an associate degree in the culinary arts from Pennsylvania Culinary Institute and is a chef at the Conrad Miami Hotel of Florida. He will graduate in December with an associate degree in hospitality management from Miami Dade College. Collier is a native of Oak Island.

    Stacy Rechelle Lear and Jonathan Harry Vivas, both of Missoula, Mont., were married May 24 at Fort Missoula’s Heritage Hall.

    The mayor of Missoula, John Engen, officiated the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter Frank and Debbie Lear of Supply and the granddaughter of Helen Lear of Rockingham, the late Brant Lear and the late Reck and Lucille Stroud.

    The groom is the son of Manual Vivas of Minnesota and Dorothy Vivas of Mount Vernon, N.Y.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Frank Lear.

    Kristin Nichole Evans and Mark Allen Register, both of Southport, were married Saturday, May 10, at Brunswick Town State Historic Site.

    Pastor Bobby Wilson of Winnabow officiated the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Marshall and Debbie Evans of Bolivia.

    The groom is the son of Martin and Gail Register of Southport.

    The bride was given in marriage and escorted by her sons, Alexander Evans and Elliott Register.

    The bride wore an off-white, full-length satin and chiffon gown with train embellished with sequins and pearls.

The bride-elect is the daughter of June and Charles Simpson of North Myrtle Beach, S.C. The prospective groom is the son of Deborah Szwed of Longs, S.C. and Michael Szwed Sr. of New Jersey. A March 14, 2009, ceremony is planned at Chapel By The Sea.
