  • Bruce birth

    Curtis and Ashley Bruce are the parents of a son, Curtis-Dean Eric Bruce, born at 12:41 p.m. March 28 at Brunswick Community Hospital.

    He weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce, and measured 20 inches long.

    He joins sisters, Megan 6, and Hedan, 2.

    Maternal grandparents are Angela Beavers of Kings Mountain and John Eric Beavers of Charlotte.

    Paternal grandparents are the late Curtis D. Bruce Sr. and the late Carolyn A. Bruce.

    Great-grandparents are Cathy and Kenneth Ross of Bessemer City and Betty ad Jack Beavers of Kings Mountain.

  • Medlin-Edwards

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Savannah Dawn Medlin of Riegelwood and Matthew Ray Edwards of Leland. The bride-elect is the daughter of Arden and Kimberly Medlin of Riegelwood. The prospective groom is the son of Bonnie Edwards of Leland and Ray and Debra Edwards of Leland. A June 7 wedding is planned on Town Creek in Winnabow with a reception to follow.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Douglas and Libby Colquitt of Creedmoor. The prospective groom is the son of Gayla Varnam of Supply and Terry and Paulette Varnam of Supply. A May 17 wedding is planned at Edgewood Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, where the Rev. Varnam is the minister of music and youth.

    Demaris and Charlotte Lance are the parents of a son, Gavin Montrel Lance, born at 5:31 p.m. March 26 at Brunswick Community Hospital.

    He weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and measured 21 inches long.

    He joins a brother, Jayden, 6.

    Maternal grandparents are Mary Nunn of Southport and Janes and Lori Nunn of Bland, Va.

    Paternal grandparents are Vermethia Lance of Shallotte and Handy Lance of Calabash.

    Great-grandparents are Gladys Nunn of Princeton, W. Va., Dorthy Clarida of Shallotte and James and Catherine Lance of Calabash.

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Susan Smith and Joshua Stanley, both of Shallotte. The bride-elect is the daughter of Joe and Mary Smith of Shallotte. The prospective groom is the son of Dane and Mary Stanley of Shallotte. The wedding is set for May 31 at Old Shallotte Baptist Church.

    The bride is the daughter of Rodney and Dina Gause of Shallotte.

    The groom is the son of Jimmy and Tina Stanley of Shallotte.

    The bride was given in marriage and escorted by her father.

    Kate Gore of Ash served as maid of honor, and Whitney Reinert of Shallotte served as matron of honor.

    Amanda Sue DeWitt and Charles Elliott Reynolds Jr. were married Saturday, April 5, at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church in Shallotte.

    The bride is the daughter of Delbert and Trina DeWitt of Mesa, Ariz., and Carrie and Christian Partello of Shallotte.

    The groom is the son of Charles and Linda Reynolds of Leland.

    Brittany Galloway served as maid of honor. Bridesmaid was Kelli Lancaster.

    The best man was Benjamin Reynolds. Groomsman was Joe Lancaster.

    Kyle and Tonya Ohlund of Shallotte are the parents of a daughter, Lilah Moore Ohlund, born at 1:31 p.m. April 1 at Brunswick Community Hospital.

    She weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and measured 18.5 inches long.

    She joins a sister, Makalei Ohlund, 8.

    Maternal grandparents are Art Maclure of Windham, Conn., and Robin and Larry Landrie of Shallotte.

    Paternal grandparents are Bonnie and Eric Ohlund of Coventry, Conn.

    Great-grandparents are Wanda Fiano of Bolton, Conn., and Julia Gove of Hermon, Maine.

    Great-great-grandmother is Iola Beuchene of Pike, N.H.

  • Elvis-Soles

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Amanda Hope Elvis of Nakina and Jerry Dale Soles of Tabor City. The bride-elect is the daughter of Verlin L. Elvis of Longs, S.C., and JoAnne and Barry Stocks of Nakina. The prospective groom is the son of the late Tilmon and Vickie Soles of Tabor City. A June 8 wedding is planned at Holden Beach.

  • Babson-Hockett

    Ashlie Babson and Ronald P. Hockett Jr. were married Saturday, April 4, on Ocean Isle Beach.

    The couple’s daughters, Lauren Frink, Katie Hockett and Bailey Lewis, served as attendants.

    The bride wore a mid-calf, silk dress with a lavender, green and coral tropical print.

    The groom wore a light tan silk pant with a mint green silk shirt.

    Attendants wore white sun dresses and rainbow flip-flops and carried bouquets of lavender roses, coral lillies, greenery and baby’s breath.
