Milestones

Charles J. Newkirk Jr. and Barbara A. Newkirk of Supply will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary (April 13) with a reception at their home on April 15. The couple has three daughters, Michele (Todd) Predmore and Valerie (William) Kilcoin of Middletown, N.Y., and Cynthia (Mark) Carey of New Windsor, N.Y.; and a son, C. Roland (Andrea) of Las Vegas, Nev. The Newkirks have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
 

Mrs. Laura E. Thompson and Mr. Edward Houston Carter Jr. of Supply are the parents of a daughter, Mary Grace Carter, born at 9:57 p.m. Feb. 10 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, weighing 7 pounds, 15 ounces and measuring 20 and one-half inches in length.
Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur B. Thompson Jr. of Rockingham.
Paternal grandparents are Mrs. Violet Carter of Wilmington and the late Edward Houston Carter.
 

Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Kimberly O’Dwyer and Zachary Duff, both of Wilmington. The bride-elect is the daughter of William and Jacqueline DeGroot of Sunset Beach and the late Richard O’Dwyer. She is a graduate of UNCW. The prospective groom is the son of Edward and Beverly Duff of Fairfax Station, Va. He is also a graduate of UNCW. A Dec. 12 wedding is planned.

The Henry Cannon Smith and Jesse Long reunion will be from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Senior Building behind Waccamaw School in Ash. Lunch will be served at noon. Bring your family history, old photographs and a covered dish.
A Henry Cannon Smith picture will be on display.
A collection will be taken for a grave marker.
