I live in a Southern retirement area where golf courses are as enticingly prevalent as the gray-white heads and arthritic limbs they lured into residence. The sunshine, blue skies, and laid-back lifestyle are hypnotic. Everyone and everything moves at a slighter slower pace. 

Anchor Baptist sets services

Anchor Baptist Church is hosting a week of special services April 3-8 featuring the Herbster Evangelistic Team, comprised of twins Mark and Mike Herbster and their wives, who will fill each service with uplifting, Christ-honoring music.

As Mark Herbster brings a timely and powerful message from the Bible, other members of the team will lead a program for children.

Church plans spring revival

Greater Tabernacle Church of Longwood will be having its spring revival March 16-18 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The Rev. Garry R. Kerr of the First Baptist Church of Hephzibah, Ga. will be the guest preacher each night. Various guest choirs will render the music.

Lecture set at St. Brendan

I can still smell the yeasty, sweet, enticing aroma of baking bread as the bus ride took us past the Wonder Bread Bakery in East Hartford, Conn. Probably a mile or two before we spotted the factory, the odors bathed us, encasing us in a comforting fragrance. It was far more than the scent of an irretrievable past. It was a reminder that simple things are not to be trashed.
