Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Brandi Harris and Eric Sykes, both of Southport. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harris of Shallotte. The prospective groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sykes of Southport. A July 9 wedding is planned at Brunswick Plantation.

Most of us know that it’s a good idea to shop with a grocery list. Yet even when you make a list, you still forget to buy foods you need or you bring home items you did not intend to buy. Do some types of lists work better than others?

With the warmer days ahead, many of us begin moving our meals outside...hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill for lunch and steaks and corn-on-the-cob for dinner.
