    Marlissa Dillon is a 21-year cancer survivor. She is not defined by this but inspired by the strength and courage she sees in other survivors and those just learning about their illness and those going through treatments.

    Marlissa is a mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is also a performer, business owner and entrepreneur. Many years ago, Marlissa opened a day spa called Marlissa and Company in Calabash.

  • SUPPLY—The physicians of Brunswick Women’s Center welcome Lee Toler, D.O., to their practice.  
    Toler, who relocated from Gastonia, began seeing patients at each of the Brunswick Women’s Center locations in Supply, Sunset Beach and Leland on Sept.19.
    Toler joins doctors Robert E. Hassler, Tracey McCarthy and L. Joseph Swaim at Brunswick Women’s Center. They are all board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology.

  • The Southport Ballet Opera Alliance will be performing a Russian-inspired version of the classic “Nutcracker” ballet at Odell Williamson Auditorium at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20. Featured are guest artists Michelle Joy and Nicholas Stettenbenz from the TranscenDance Group.

  • Come out and have your dog’s portrait taken while helping the Meals on Wheels 4 Pets program and dog park construction in Brunswick County.
    Sponsored by BARK (Brunswick Area Responsible K9 owners), portraits can be scheduled from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 8 and from noon-5 p.m. Oct. 9 at Canine Academy, 1020 Old Ocean Highway in Bolivia.
    Cost is $30 for six poses/one 4-by-6 inch thumbnail print, CD with all six poses. Maximum two dogs/two owners.
