    What impels a religion columnist to write about scammers and their nefarious occupation? It’s a good question that commands investigation and response. As I was pondering both query and reply, an interesting item was announced during the nightly news. The story involved the growing number of scams being perpetrated, particularly on senior citizens. Obviously this is both a disturbing reality and one that causes concern about the state of our union as a nation, a people, specifically a people of God.

Chew toys help keep the teeth and gums healthy and strengthen jaw muscles. They also serve as important environmental enrichment aides and provide essential mental stimulation.   •  Change comes with a high cost for most people. Echoes of “we never did it this way” or “we always did it this way” are loud, long and rarely laudable. I can remember the angst my Sicilian mother-in-law felt when I failed to ask her advice regarding the “proper” way to make spaghetti sauce. My own Neapolitan mother was probably equally miffed, though she dared not show it, when she discovered I didn’t follow her recipe either!
