And am right sorry to repeat what follows…”

    King Henry VIII.

Pardon me for repeating a recent mystery plant. Every now and then I do this –– not to grieve my dear readers –– but rather to bring some new aspect of an old friend to bear. Therefore, behold this lovely flower!

  •  At one time or another, we’ve all been to a restaurant and had a really fantastic meal and wished we could make that same meal at home. And you probably could, if only you knew the exact ingredients, how to prepare the special sauce and how long to cook it. But, it always seems there’s an ingredient or two you’ve left out, as it just doesn’t taste quite the same as what you had in the restaurant.

Garcia-Mendez graduated from basic military training completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

  •  Malcolm J. and Brenda Todd Grissett of Ocean Isle Beach celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary March 7 at a surprise reception at Beulah Baptist Church. Their family and special friends honored them for 50 years of faith and love that have been filled with blessings from above.

  •  Over the years that I’ve been teaching about food, cooking and nutrition, the one request I seem to get over and over again is people wanting ideas on how to prepare quick meals. They also want these meals to be good for them. That’s always a challenge.

  •  Years ago, we hummed a tune regarding the three R’s –– readin’ and ‘ritin’ and ‘rithmetic –– all taught to the tune of a hickory stick! Nowadays, we’ve retained the infamous R’s and denounced the punishment of the hickory stick. We try to make education available to all. Sometimes, our success is called into question, but always we make the attempt. However, I wonder if we give short shrift to a fourth R, or even stop to consider it a crucial component in the educational process. The fourth R is relationship.
