The town of Calabash is having a more low-key Memorial Day ceremony this year with a moment of prayer around the flagpole monument in Calabash Community Park at 11 a.m. Monday, May 29.

It’s a sacred day to remember those who died in defense of the country.

Memorial Day tributes to America’s soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice will once again be paid throughout Brunswick County and on the Battleship North Carolina in Wilmington on the traditional fourth Monday in May observance as well as one ceremony on the “actual Memorial Day” on Tuesday, May 30.

Here’s a closer look at scheduled ceremonies.
