Worms and Coffee neon sign auctioned for $1,000 to Oak Island business owner

An Oak Island business owner hauled in the Worms and Coffee neon prize at a liquidation auction of the Midway Trading Post last Saturday, Aug. 20.

Rodney Keesee, owner of Strands Outfitters on Oak Island, cast a top bid of $1,000 to win the day’s coveted “Worms and Coffee” neon window sign that helped bring international fame to the small, simple store at the corner of N.C. 211 and Midway Road.
