Lloyd Milliken, owner of Lloyd’s Oyster House, his family’s three-generation seafood business there, said the oyster-packing business has fallen off, but that didn’t stop him from strapping on his gloves, donning his work clothes and spending more than four hours on a Saturday morning in late September bent over the conveyor belt. Milliken has supplied the oysters for the North Carolina Oyster Festival for more than 30 years.
Milliken reflects on 72 years in oyster business

 SHALLOTTE POINT — Shallotte Point native Lloyd Milliken owns gambling boats in South Carolina and restaurants all the way from Murrells Inlet, S.C., to four in Cape Canaveral, Fla., but there’s no question where his heart is.

“Right here,” Milliken said, pointing to the walls inside his oyster house located off Village Point Road, a location most of his natives refer to as “The Point.”
