Scorpions win opener in playoffs

The North Brunswick girls’ basketball team improved to 22-3 by winning its first-round state playoff game Feb. 21 in Leland.

North will play a second-round game Feb. 23 against Farmville Central (18-5). It had won 62-34 in the first round against Eastern Randolph (15-12).

North, seeded No. 3, opened the playoffs by beating Durham School of the Arts 56-25.

DSA entered the game 12-17 and was seeded No. 31 out of 32 teams. It scored three points in the first quarter and trailed 42-12 at halftime.
