Mistakes cost Trojans in loss to New Hanover

WILMINGTON — New Hanover took advantage of West Brunswick mistakes to beat the Trojans 30-13 Friday, Oct. 24, in a conference football game between North Carolina Class 4A and Class 3A football teams.

A holding penalty nullified a Trojan touchdown that would have tied the score in the first quarter. A high snap on a Trojan punt attempt led to nine points for the Class 4A Wildcats — a safety, a touchdown and an extra point — and a 16-0 lead with 40 seconds left in the first quarter. The Trojans were unable to get closer than 10 points the rest of the game.
