  • Margaret Byrd

    Margaret Ann Garrett Byrd, 87, of Southern Pines, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center.
    She was born on April 22, 1924. She was a daughter of the late Karl and Jessie Garrett.
    She was predeceased by her husband, Locke Byrd Jr. She graduated from Greensboro High School and attended Mary Baldwin College. Mrs. Byrd was a housewife and enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and needlework. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

  • Connie Six

    Connie Milam Six, 71, of Carolina Shores, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, with her loving family by her side.
    Mrs. Six was a retired educator. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Milam and Perry Franklin Milam.

  • Frances Porter

    Mrs. Frances W. Porter, 69, of Carolina Shores, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
    Born in Baltimore, Md., on July 11, 1942, she was a daughter of the late George and Pearl Edwards Shade.
    Mrs. Porter’s roots and childhood to adult years were spent in Washington, N.C. She was a retired N.C. Realtor and was owner/operator of Starheel Properties LLC from 2002 until 2009.
    She had a love of painting, black-and-white movies and enjoyed the company of her many friends.

  • Carolyn Lowry

    Carolyn Sue Harris Lowry, 68, of Supply, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
    Survivors include two sons, Perry Neville of Pembroke, and Kevin Woodrow Harris Jr. of Ash; a daughter, Nina Faulk of Tennessee; a brother, Woodrow Harris Jr. of Pembroke; three sisters, Deborah Cummings of Pembroke, and Freda Harris Strickland and Christie Jacobs, both of Lumberton; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

  • Terry Hunt

    Terry Lynn Hunt, of Sunset Beach, passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011. She was 68 years old.
    She was born to the late Harry and Lee Harles on June 4, 1943, in Florence, S.C. Terry graduated from Rocky Mount High School in 1961, and attended Peace College. She married James Hunt in 1970 in Denver, Colo. They settled down in Holland, Pa., in 1979 before relocating to Sunset Beach in 2005.

  • James Hufham

    James W. Hufham Sr., 89, of Bolton, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
    He was born in Wilmington, on Sept. 21, 1922, a son of the late William Manchester Hufham and Lessie Sanders Hufham.
    His wife, Patricia Croom Hufham, preceded him in death in 1992.
    Mr. Hufham was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II on an ammunitions ship stationed in the Philippines, and was an Honorary Admiral of the U.S.S. North Carolina in Wilmington.

  • Kathleen Henson

    Kathleen Virginia Wilson Henson, 83, of Supply, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at her home.
    She was born on Sept. 24, 1928, in Spruce Pine, a daughter of the late Beler and Bessie Pendley Wilson.
    Surviving are her four sons, Frank Michael Henson of Mount Ulla, Ricky Henson of Lenoir, Terry Henson of Supply, and Tony Henson of Shallotte; two daughters, Loretta Queen of Supply, and Tina Godfrey of Shallotte; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

  • Barbara Bragg

    Barbara Kaye Bragg, 67, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011.
    Barbara was the daughter of the late Joseph Bragg and Geneva Eisenhart, and was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bragg.
    She is survived by her loving husband, Rob Sandifer; a son, Steve Sandifer of Hot Spring Ark.; a daughter, Janet, and husband Mathias Chouraki of New York; and one grandchild, Stella Chouraki.

  • Eldon Bradshaw

    Eldon Bradshaw, 79, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.
    He was born on May 6, 1932, in Sampson County to Ruby Mae Bradshaw. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
    He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Freedle Bradshaw of the home; his son, Robert Bradshaw of Southport; his daughters, Della McClellan of Fayetteville, Amelia Brady of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Gloria Inman of Linwood; his brother, H.B. Williamson of Clinton; his sister, Billie Joyce of Clinton; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

  • Mark Bishop

    Mark Shane Bishop, 47, of Boiling Spring Lakes, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, as a result of injuries he sustained in an automobile crash.
    He was born on April 24, 1964, in Richmond County, a son of Charles Earl and Delores Aycock Bishop.
