  • Coastal Ambassador training session set

    The North Carolina Coastal Federation’s Coastal Ambassador training session in September will focus on coastal advocacy work, both in the Wrightsville Beach area and along the coast. The evening training will be Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Fred and Alice Coastal Education Center in Wrightsville Beach. For newcomers, there will be a required orientation session starting at 5 p.m.

  • BCAR: Market remains hot through dog days of summer

    Brunswick County’s residential real estate market continues to show steady growth in sales, prices and total sales volume over last year, according to statistics released Aug. 21 by the Brunswick County Association of Realtors.

    “Brunswick County’s residential real estate market continues to demonstrate sustained, healthy growth across the board,” BCAR CEO Cynthia Walsh said in a news release. “July saw increases in new listings, units sold, average sales price and total sales volume.”

    Leadership Brunswick County is a program sponsored by Brunswick Community College and the Southport-Oak Island Area, North Brunswick and Brunswick County chambers of commerce to develop corps of informed, committed and qualified individuals capable of providing dynamic leadership for Brunswick County. It is designed to identify highly motivated, emerging leaders and educate them about the needs of our community, as well as the dynamics of social and economic changes.

  • Lease agreements reached with first two tenants at Harrington Square in Leland

    Shirley Logan, an agent with Coldwell Banker Commercial SunCoast, has negotiated lease agreements with the first two tenants at Harrington Square, the retail component of Harrington Village, a new mixed-use retail and residential project under construction in Leland. The 19-acre development sits just north of Village Road on one of the most traveled intersections in the area, with more than 60,000 cars passing the location daily.

  • ATMC completes FOCUS fiber optic service expansion in Shallotte business district

    ATMC announced construction is complete and FOCUS fiber optic communications are available to businesses in the Shallotte business district.

    The $1 million network investment in Shallotte is expected to encourage economic growth, attract new businesses to the area and enhance current business capabilities.

  • BCAR releases real estate statistics for first half of 2017

    Brunswick County’s residential real estate market showed strong, steady growth in the first half of 2017, as well as during June, with sales volume continuing to increase steadily, according to data released by the Brunswick County Association of Realtors (BCAR).

    “Brunswick County’s residential real estate market continued its trend of strong, healthy growth through June,” BCAR CEO Cynthia Walsh said in a news release. “All signs indicate that we can expect the steady growth we’ve experienced in the first half of 2017 to continue.”

  • ATMC works to upgrade Internet services in rural areas

    ATMC announced an aggressive network improvement project that will enable more than 3,000 households in some of Brunswick County’s most rural areas to have access to much faster broadband Internet speeds by the end of 2019. The project is part of the cooperative’s five-year plan to expand and enhance its broadband network throughout Brunswick County.

  • BCAR releases May 2017 real estate data

    Brunswick County’s residential real estate market continued to show exceptional growth during May 2017, including a substantial increase in average sales prices and the year’s highest sales total to date, according to statistics data from the Brunswick County Association of Realtors (BCAR).

    “Brunswick County’s real estate market is still red hot, to the point of breaking records,” BCAR CEO Cynthia Walsh said in a news release. “We have not seen sales like this in one month since before 2010.”

    ATMC has begun delivering FOCUS fiber optic communications to businesses along Main Street in Shallotte as part of a dynamic five-year expansion and network enhancement plan.
