The Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce has developed a new logo, mission statement and tagline. The focus is on building the community and supporting businesses and the new tagline and mission statement support these concepts and is essential for future growth. 

The new tagline is “building community and supporting business.”

Sergeant Ricky E. King entered retirement by being awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine for his years of dedicated service to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Sergeant King began his career with the highway patrol on September 2, 1982. He officially retired on March 1 after 28 and a half years of service.

“It is truly an honor and a privilege to be able to come together to honor Ricky,” said First Sergeant Troy Pope. “It is amazing a man can get through a career like this in the Highway Patrol without any major incidents.”

The Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting, celebrating 35 years of service to the community will be at 5:30 p.m. March 10 at the Sea Trail Convention Center. The meeting’s theme will be “Reflections of the Past, Present and Future.”

Tickets are $40 per person and $330 for a reserved table of eight. Current, past and present members are encouraged to attend for the passing of the gavel, awards, presentation, dinner and dancing. Business dress attire is required.

Scottish Food Systems Inc. of Laurinburg recently recognized Shallotte KFC at 348 Whiteville Road in Shallotte. The entire team at the local KFC received the Video of Excellence Award and in doing so, achieved a perfect score.
