Judge Napoleon B. Barefoot Jr. presided over the following cases with prosecutor Cathi Radford and courtroom clerk Courtney Graham:

A Lumberton teenager charged in the death of her father has taken a plea for a lesser charge.

Eighteen-year-old Brianna Galloway of Lumberton had originally been charged with felony death by motor vehicle and driving while impaired. She was the driver in a wreck that happened around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28.

Galloway was driving on Stone Chimney Road in Supply, about 6.3 miles north of Shallotte, when she ran off the road, hit a tree and her vehicle overturned.

Her passenger, her father Troy K. Galloway, 41, of Supply, was killed.

BOLIVIA—In a trial that lasted less than a week, a Brunswick County jury has found Daniel Harrison Brennick, 25, Southport, guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Satu Harris.

Harris, 38, of Oak Island, a mother of three, died on the scene of the wreck around 11:30 p.m. May 7, 2010.

Harris’ car was hit head-on by a truck driven by Brennick. The wreck was on N.C. 133 about 3.5 miles north of Southport.

Brennick was also found guilty of felony death by vehicle and DWI.
