  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office K-9 Roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From Jan. 26-Feb.1, deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Team answered 18 calls, issued eight uniformed citations and made six drug arrests.

    K-9 deputies set up driver’s license checkpoints in the following areas: Gray Bridge Road, N.C. 133, Stone Chimney Road, Mount Pisgah Road and Lincoln Road.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    The ACE team conducts driving while impaired, driver’s license and criminal information checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances. The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Counterfeit bill at the Brunswick County Tax Office; suspect tried to pass a counterfeit $100 bill.

    •Breaking and entering on Egret Drive in Supply; suspect took pump out of victim’s pump house and damaged a window on front door.

    •Breaking and entering and breaking and entering to a motor vehicle on Compass Pointe; suspect broke into four vehicles and four trailers.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office drug report

    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit made the following arrests last week. The suspects and their charges, which are taken directly from arrest reports and citations, are:

    •Matthew Deante Hewett, 24, of 1803 Turkey Trap Road, Supply; charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of ½ ounce or less of marijuana and maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance.

  • SHALLOTTE CRIME REPORT

    Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated the following incidents last week.

    •Police charged Arlander Gause, 55, of 679 Seaside Road, with driving while impaired and driving while license revoked at U.S. 17 and Main Street. He was taken to Brunswick County Detention Center and placed on a $1,000 bond.

    •Obtaining property by false pretense on Bridgers Road; suspect sent a check for $2,500 on item to be sold for $600 and asked the victim to send back the overage minus $150.

  • District Court Docket

    The following cases were adjudicated over three days of District Criminal Court on Jan. 23, 26 and 27 in Bolivia.

    Friday, Jan. 23

    Judge Jerry A. Jolly presided over the following cases with prosecutor Cathi Radford and courtroom clerk and Lisa Quick:

    Oscar Omar Alfaro, no operator’s license, Brunswick County Jail 30 days, suspended sentence 24 months, unsupervised probation 24 months, costs, not violate any criminal laws.

    Bobbie Wilson Anderson, probation violation, admits, probation revoked.

  • Grand jury indictments for Jan. 21

    The Brunswick County Grand Jury under the direction of Judge Ola Lewis with prosecutor Rex Gore and courtroom clerk Kay Fowler returned the following indictments during a Superior Court session on Jan. 21:

    William McLean Allen, 22, of 1119 Links Road, Surfside Beach, S.C.; felony possession of cocaine.

    Christopher Lee Christmas, 36, of 310 Lanson Way, Leland; felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana, misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia.

  • Three of four suspects charged with larceny; one suspect remains at large

    Three of four suspects wanted for an afternoon larceny of Woody’s Grocery on Holden Beach Road have been arrested and charged with larceny. One suspect remains at large.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Detective Ed Carter said around noon Jan. 28, four suspects entered the grocery store and asked about buying cigars. When the owner turned his back to reach for the cigars behind the counter, the suspects allegedly took a deposit bag with cash and checks, Carter said.

  • Leland crime report

    Leland Police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken from patrol activity reports.

    •Larceny on Village Road; suspect stole victim’s utility trailer.

    •Larceny on Village Road; suspect stole white chains from the Leland ballpark.

    •Robert Gray Hill, 19, of 148 Baldwin Drive, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
