  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office K-9 roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From Oct. 5-11, K-9 deputies answered 17 calls, wrote 13 uniform citations and made 12 drug arrests.

    Deputies patrolled the following communities: Wildwood Village, Carolina Shores, Shell Point Acres, Bent Tree, Lakewood and Magnolia Greens.

    The following suspects were charged. All information is taken directly from arrest reports and citations.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office drug report

    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit charged the following suspects last week. The suspects and their charges, which are taken directly from arrest reports and citations, are:

    •Shiquetta Deshonda Banks, 20, of 3320 Amber Lane, Little River, S.C.; charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance, manufacture marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Breaking and entering on Mount Pisgah Road in Supply; suspect took a screen off victim’s front window.

    •Property damage on Lazy Acres Drive in Winnabow; suspect hit street sign and mailbox.

    •Breaking and entering, larceny and burglary on Tobago Drive in Southport; suspect entered victim’s residence and stole fishing equipment and a TV.

  • OCEAN ISLE BEACH - CRIME REPORT

    Ocean Isle Beach Police investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police incident reports.

    •Breaking and entering on East Third Street.

    •Property damage and hit and run on Causeway Drive.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny from employer on Causeway Drive.

    •Breaking and entering and property damage on West Second Street.

    •Property damage on Raeford Street.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances.

    The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

  • Shallotte crime report

    The Shallotte Police Department made the following arrests and investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police incident reports.

    •Shoplifting at Scotchman on Whiteville Road; suspect took a 12-pack of Miller Lite.

    •Harassing telephone calls and communicating threats on Gurganus Road.

    •Harassing telephone calls at Bath & Body Works.

    •Counterfeit currency at BB&T on Main Street; employee found a $20 counterfeit bill police say is relevant and related to another investigation.

  • Ocean Isle Beach - Crime Report

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests. All information is taken directly from police incident reports.

    •Larceny on East Second Street; suspect removed pressure washer, Wii game system and three games from house.

    •Probation violation on East Second Street.

    •Larceny from motor vehicle on Goldsboro Street; suspect took a GPS unit from vehicle.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Laurinburg Street; suspect took a TV from the home.

  • District Court Docket

    The following cases were adjudicated over four days of District Criminal Court on Sept. 23, 24, 28 and 29 in Bolivia.

    Wednesday, Sept. 23

    Marion R. Warren presided over the following cases with prosecutor Cathi Radford and courtroom clerks Jennifer Hearn and Lisa Quick:

    Dina Agee, improper equipment, expired registration card/tag, both voluntarily dismissed.

    Kristin J. Alexander, improper equipment, costs.

  • Sunset Beach police investigate break-ins

    SUNSET BEACH—Police investigated recent break-ins reported on the Sunset Beach island.

    A breaking and entering was reported Sept. 29 at a residence on East Main Street. The perpetrators gained entry by breaking out a side glass door with a gas cylinder bottle. Stolen were a widescreen LCD television and a DVD/VCR.

    A break-in was reported Oct. 1 on Canal Drive. Someone broke out a sliding glass door to gain entry. It is not known whether anything is missing.
