    The following cases were adjudicated over five days of District Criminal Court on March 25, 26, 27, 30 and 31 in Bolivia.

    Wednesday, March 25

    Judge Napoleon B. Barefoot presided over the following cases with prosecutor Cathi Radford and courtroom clerk and Lisa Quick:

    Karen Michelle Adams, exceeding safe speed, voluntarily dismissed.

    James Edwards Alford, speeding 64 in a 55 zone, prayer for judgment continued and costs.

    Andrea Elizabeth Allen, improper equipment, costs.

  • SHALLOTTE CRIME REPORT

    Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated the following incidents last week.

    •Police charged Shelby Lynn Horning, 40, of 1969 Cedar Lane, Supply, with driving while impaired and no insurance. She was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center.

    •Larceny of a leather jacket at Beach House Harley Davidson; suspect walked into the store, put on one of the leather jackets and walked out to his motorcycle without paying for the jacket.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances. The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

  • Supply teen charged with larceny

    A Supply teen has been charged with breaking and entering and larceny of a Supply resident’s shed.

    Daniel Adam Orlick, 16, of 3503 Lakeview Drive, was charged with breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods, possession of ½ ounce or less of marijuana and no operator’s license on March 22, according to a booking report.

    Orlick was charged for the Feb. 16 break-in on Riverview Lane, where the victim reported someone entered his shed and stole three model airplanes, a radio and a radio transmitter.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office drug report

    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit charged the following suspects last week. The suspects and their charges, which are taken directly from arrest reports, are:

    •Glenn Clark, 44, of 496 Sherill Road, Pembroke; charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, conspire to sell and deliver marijuana, manufacture marijuana, maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Larceny on Etheridge Road in Longwood; suspect stole money, jewelry and medication from victim’s residence.

    •Larceny on U.S. 17 in Supply; suspect stole keys from business.

    •Larceny and obtaining property by false pretenses on Holden Beach Road; suspect stole weed eater from victim’s residence and pawned it.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office K-9 Roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From March 23-29, deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Team answered 33 calls, issued 12 uniformed citations and made seven drug arrests.

    K-9 deputies set up driver’s license checkpoints at the following locations: Lincoln Road, Village and Pigott roads, Mount Misery Road and Natures Trail, Beach Drive and Country Club Drive, N.C. 130 and Mirror Lite, Empire Road and Pea Landing Road.

  • Car break-ins in Sunset Beach

    Car break-ins in Sunset Beach

    SUNSET BEACH—Money was reported stolen in two separate vehicular break-ins last week.

    The first break-in was reported March 25 on Live Oak Drive. A second break-in of a vehicle on Bayberry Street was reported March 26, according to Sunset Beach police.

    Sunset Beach Deputy Police Chief Steve Smith said the vehicles had been left unlocked.

     

  • Grand jury indictments

    The Brunswick County Grand Jury under the direction of Judge Ola Lewis with prosecutor Rex Gore and courtroom clerk Kay Fowler returned the following indictments during a Superior Court session on March 16:

    Zachary Othell Allen, 26, of 69 Daniels Road, Riegelwood; misdemeanor assault on a female, misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, felony assault by strangulation.

    Larry Lee Brown, 21, of 3545 Grist Creek Wynd, Leland; felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana, misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia.

    The following cases were adjudicated over four days of District Criminal Court on March 18, 20, 23 and 24 in Bolivia.

    Wednesday, March 18

    Judge Jerry A. Jolly presided over the following cases with prosecutor Cathi Radford and courtroom clerk and Michelle Warth:

    Isaac Ballard Jr., speeding 69 in a 60 zone, costs.

    John Mester Barbazon, take more than recreational limit, Brunswick County Jail 10 days, suspended sentence 24 months, unsupervised probation 24 months, $35 and costs, not violate any criminal laws, 30 days to pay.
