  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office: Ace Report July 20-26

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances.

    The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office: K-9 Report July 20-26

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From July 20-26, deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Team answered 19 calls and made five drug arrests.

    K-9 deputies patrolled the following communities: Ocean Ridge, Brunswick Plantation, Lakewood, Carolina Place and downtown Southport.

    The following suspects were charged. All information is taken directly from arrest reports and citations.

  • Ocean Isle Beach Crime Report

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police incident reports.

    •Vandalism on Fairmont Street. Suspect threw soda cans and bottled water at an automobile, causing $100 in damage. •Larceny of golf cart at the Ocean Isle Beach pier. Suspect removed golf cart from parking lot, which was later recovered. •Breaking and entering at the Ocean Isle pier. Suspect entered the building but did not cause damage.

  • Holden Beach crime reports

    Holden Beach Police responded to the following incidents between July 14-24. All information is taken directly from police incident reports:

    • Larceny on South Shore Drive.

    • Burglary, forcible entry; larceny and criminal damage to property (vandalism) on Ocean Boulevard East.

    • Breaking and entering to a motor vehicle and criminal damage to property on Ocean Boulevard West.

    • Larceny from a motor vehicle and burglary, non-forced entry at Jordan Boulevard gazebo.

  • Suspect sought in Sunset Beach prescription theft

    SUNSET BEACH—Police in Fuquay Varina are seeking a suspect in connection with a prescription theft in Sunset Beach.

    Sunset Beach Deputy Chief Steve Smith said Elisa Gandy Mangum, 42, of Angier, is sought for the reported July 24 theft of four prescription medications from a Sunset Beach home.

    The prescriptions were filled at Walgreens in Fuquay Varina, Smith said, where the theft would be considered a felony.

  • District Court Docket

    The following cases were adjudicated over four days of District Criminal Court on July 15, 16, 20 and 21 in Bolivia.

    Wednesday, July 15

    Judge Jerry A. Jolly presided over the following cases with prosecutor Cathi Radford and courtroom clerk and Lisa Quick:

    Alfred Gerald Brock, two counts resisting public officer, two counts assault government official/employee, all voluntarily dismissed.

  • SHALLOTTE CRIME REPORT

    Shallotte Police charged the following people and investigated the following incidents last week.

    •Police charged Sharyike Shenard Powell, 26, of 118 S. 11th St., Wilmington, and Jennifer Sharmaine Hall, 24, of 920 N. 5th St., Wilmington, with felony larceny and misdemeanor larceny at Walmart. They were taken to Brunswick County Detention Center on $12,000 secured bonds.

    •Police charged Michelle Mastine Clewis, 33, of 1149 Stone Chimney Road, Supply, with identity theft. She was taken to Brunswick County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.

  • Thefts, break-in reported in Sunset Beach

    Thefts, break-in reported in Sunset Beach

    SUNSET BEACH—Police investigated a breaking and entering and larceny reported July 10 at 607 W. Main St. in Sunset Beach.

    Taken were three bicycles, two of which have been recovered. A blue bicycle is still missing.

    On July 8, a young man reported he left three surfboards and a skim board overnight on the beach strand and they were gone the next morning. Missing are a 7-foot yellow and green board, a 6-foot red and white long board, one taxi-yellow board with a red emblem and a yellow and red 3-fin skim board.

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From July 6-12, deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Team answered 13 calls and made three drug arrests.

    K-9 deputies patrolled the following communities: Brierwood, Wildwood, Shallotte Point, Brunswick Plantation and Village of Calabash.

  • Holden Beach police report

    Holden Beach Police officers investigated the following incidents and charged the following suspects last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports:

    •Larceny on Ocean Boulevard West; suspect stole a video camera, mini video tapes, a camera bag and a van. Police later arrested Michael McKinney, 38, of 2245 Boones Neck Road SW, Supply, and charged him with possession of stolen property.

    •Vandalism on Ocean Boulevard East; suspect damaged three vehicles.
