The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

The ACE team conducts driving while impaired, driver’s license and criminal information checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances. The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

Holden Beach Police last week investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests. All information is taken directly from incident/investigation and arrest reports.

•Burglary and larceny on Saltation Court on Dec. 21; suspect broke victim’s window with a lawn mower blade, entered the home and stole a plasma TV and a Nintendo game system.

•Donald Allan Reece, 37, of 913 Jordan Road, Autryville; charged with driving while license revoked, a child safety seat violation and present revoked license.

The Brunswick County Grand Jury under the direction of Judge Knox Jenkins with prosecutor Rex Gore and courtroom clerk Kay Fowler returned the following indictments during a Superior Court session on Dec. 1:

Janet Marie Bost, 35, of 10168 Pine Bark Place SE, Leland; felony embezzlement, felony financial card fraud, felony accessing computers.

Jaquan D’Angelo Brooks, 21, of 4491 Maple Hill Road, Shallotte; felony assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, felony discharge weapon occupants property serious bodily injury.

A Bolivia man is one of five people indicted federally in a mortgage fraud scheme.

On Nov. 19, a federal grand jury returned criminal indictments on Stanley Garfield Williams Jr., 37, of Bolivia and four other suspects, charging each suspect with conspiring to commit wire fraud and mail fraud, aiding and abetting wire fraud and conspiring to money launder, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office press release.
