  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office drug report

    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit issued the following charges last week. The suspects and their charges, which are taken directly from arrest reports and citations, are:

    •Reese Talbort McDonald, 20, of 205 NE 54th St., Bolivia; charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    •Bobbi Lynn Davis, 37, of 2371 Captains Wheel Ave., Holden Beach; charged with possession of ½ ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Property damage and breaking and entering on Boundaryline Drive in Calabash; suspect busted out victim’s vehicle windows.

    •Breaking and entering to a vehicle, larceny and property damage on Briarwood Drive in Calabash; suspect broke victim’s passenger window and stole money, CDs and tools.

  • Leland crime report

    Leland police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from patrol activity reports.

    •Larceny on New Pointe Boulevard; suspects stole a flat screen TV from Walmart.

    •Obtaining property by false pretenses on Thomas Garst Lane; suspect ran a money exchange scam on one of his employees, taking $150 from the employee.

    •Domestic assault on Giles Place; Johnny Edwards Williams, Jr., 39, of 843 Giles Place, Leland, was charged with domestic assault.

  • Oak Island man charged with coin machine break-in, theft; more warrants coming

    Police charged Daniel Chris Gibides, 39, of 3 St. Andrew’s Drive, Oak Island, with felony breaking and entering and misdemeanor damaging a coin-operated machine at Hill’s Grocery Store on Main Street.

    The reporting officer caught Gibides breaking into a Pepsi machine. He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center and placed on a $12,000 secured bond.

    Police also investigated similar coin-operated machine break-ins at GoGas, Black’s Tire Service, Kimball’s Furniture, Lowes Foods and Shallotte Electric Stores.

  • Leland police report

    Leland police officers investigated the following incidents last week and issued the following charges. All information is taken directly from patrol activity reports.

    •Larceny on Village Road; suspect left Food Lion with an undisclosed amount of groceries without paying for them.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Lanvale Road; victim reported her boyfriend broke into her vehicle and stole money from her.

    •Property damage on Grandiflora Drive; victim reported an unknown suspect struck his mailbox, damaging it.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office K-9 Roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    Officers with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Team answered 36 calls last week, issued 20 uniformed citations and 25 total charges.

    K-9 officers set up driver’s license checkpoints in the following areas: Stanley Road, Stone Chimney Road, Turkey Trap Road, Midway Road, N.C. 179, Mount Misery Road, Lincoln Road, Kirby Road, Boones Neck Road, Holden Beach Road and Lanvale Road.

    •Arson on Grist Creek Wynd in Leland; suspect set victim’s truck on fire.

    •Breaking and entering to an automobile and larceny on Jeffrey Stokes Drive in Leland; suspect entered victim’s vehicle and stole victim’s wallet.

    •Breaking and entering to an auto and larceny on Huckabee Court in Leland; suspect entered victim’s vehicle and stole a laptop.

  • SHALLOTTE CRIME REPORT

    Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

    Police charged Joshua Andrew Fashover, 18, of 2261 Jingle Court, Supply, with embezzlement and vandalism. Fashover was employed at Andy’s Cheesesteaks and was charged after someone reported finding $1,700 missing, the restaurant’s front window broken, the counter ransacked and the back door open and unlocked. He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $10,000 secured bond.

  • ACE team report

    The newest criminal enforcement unit at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is up and running.

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

  • District Court Docket

     The following cases were adjudicated over five days of District Criminal Court on Oct. 29, 30, 31 and Nov. 3, 4 in Bolivia.

    Wednesday, Oct. 29

    Judge Jim Martin presided over the following cases with prosecutor Cathi Radford and courtrooms clerk Michelle Warth and Lisa Quick:

    Jonathan Bullock, speeding 64 in a 55 zone, costs; no operator’s license, voluntarily dismissed.

    Jennifer Brodie Cain, 75 in a 55 zone, driving while license revoked, possess/display altered/fictitious/revoked driver’s license, all voluntarily dismissed.
