  • Sheriff's office K-9 enforcement team roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    Officers with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Team answered 41 calls last week, issued 16 uniformed citations and 31 total charges. K-9 officers set up driver’s license checkpoints in the following areas: Cedar Hill Road, Hickman Road, Lincoln School Road, Gray Bridge Road, Sunset Harbor Road, Stone Chimney Road and Lincoln Road.

  • Desk clerk charged with rape in Shallotte

    Shallotte police on Saturday charged a hotel desk clerk at the Comfort Inn with rape after a woman staying there accused him of sexually assaulting her.

    At 2:22 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of a sexual assault at the motel on Whiteville Road. The victim identified the clerk at the front desk as her attacker. Police found pictures of the victim on the suspect’s camera, according to the incident report.

    A Brunswick County grand jury under the direction of Judge Ola Lewis with prosecutor Rex Gore and courtroom clerk Kay Fowler returned the following indictments during a Superior Court session on Oct. 6:

    Patsy Mae Davis, 52, of 5450 Delco Prosper Road , Delco; felony maintain vehicle/dwelling/place controlled substance, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell schedule IV controlled substance, felony sell/deliver schedule IV controlled substance.
