  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office drug report

    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit made the following arrests last week. The suspects and their charges, which are taken directly from arrest reports and citations, are:

    •Teri Lynn Moore, 47, of 490 Village Road, Leland; charged with felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    •Michael George Florence, 19, of 14201 Leafield Drive, Midlothian, Va.; charged with possession of ½ ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Sheriff's office K-9 enforcement team roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    Officers with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Team answered 41 calls last week, issued 16 uniformed citations and 31 total charges. K-9 officers set up driver’s license checkpoints in the following areas: Cedar Hill Road, Hickman Road, Lincoln School Road, Gray Bridge Road, Sunset Harbor Road, Stone Chimney Road and Lincoln Road.

  • Desk clerk charged with rape in Shallotte

    Shallotte police on Saturday charged a hotel desk clerk at the Comfort Inn with rape after a woman staying there accused him of sexually assaulting her.

    At 2:22 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of a sexual assault at the motel on Whiteville Road. The victim identified the clerk at the front desk as her attacker. Police found pictures of the victim on the suspect’s camera, according to the incident report.

  • Brunswick County grand jury returns indictments

    A Brunswick County grand jury under the direction of Judge Ola Lewis with prosecutor Rex Gore and courtroom clerk Kay Fowler returned the following indictments during a Superior Court session on Oct. 6:

    Patsy Mae Davis, 52, of 5450 Delco Prosper Road , Delco; felony maintain vehicle/dwelling/place controlled substance, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell schedule IV controlled substance, felony sell/deliver schedule IV controlled substance.

    The following cases were adjudicated over two days of District Criminal Court on Oct. 6 and 7 in Bolivia.

    Monday, Oct. 6

    Judge William F. Fairley presided over the following cases with prosecutor Cathi Radford and courtroom clerks Michelle Warth and Lisa Quick:

    Robin Leigh Atkinson, operate vehicle no insurance, fictitious/canceled/revoked registration card/tag, fail to surrender title/registration card/tag, failure to reduce speed, all voluntarily dismissed.

    Angela R. Ballengee, drink beer/wine while driving, DWI, expired/no inspection sticker, all voluntarily dismissed.

    Kenneth Franklin Adcox, fail to wear seat belt/driver, voluntarily dismissed.

    Wesley Keith Adkins, fail to secure passenger under 16, costs.

    Jacob Aaron Akers, speeding 58 in a 45 zone, prayer for judgment continued and costs; expired/no inspection sticker, voluntarily dismissed.

  • Brunswick County grand jury meets, returns indictments on Sept. 8

    The Brunswick County Grand Jury under the direction of Judge Ola Lewis with prosecutor Rex Gore and courtroom clerk Kay Fowler returned the following indictments during a Superior Court session on Sept. 8:

    Adam Clayton Abbott, 33, of 1547 Randall St. SW, Ocean Isle Beach; felony possession of cocaine.
