• Leland crime report

    Leland Police officers investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken from patrol activity reports.

    •Larceny on Village Road; suspect stole victim’s utility trailer.

    •Larceny on Village Road; suspect stole white chains from the Leland ballpark.

    •Robert Gray Hill, 19, of 148 Baldwin Drive, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Property damage on Clubhouse Drive in Supply; suspect damaged front security gate.

    •Property damage on Live Oak Street in Shallotte; suspect cut the canvas top of victim’s vehicle.

    •Larceny and financial card theft on Harbor Ridge Drive in Bolivia; suspect stole victim’s wallet from vehicle.

  • K-9 Enforcement Team roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From Jan. 22-25, deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Team answered 18 calls, issued eight uniformed citations and made six drug arrests.

    K-9 officers set up driver’s license checkpoints in the following areas: Ocean Isle Beach Road, Mount Misery Road and Main Street in Navassa.


    Shallotte Police charged the following people and investigated the following incidents during the last two weeks:

    •Police charged Manual Estaban Risco-Mandaz, 37, of 4590 79th St. NE, Miami, Fla., with felony financial card fraud, misdemeanor financial card fraud, felony possession of stolen property and misdemeanor possession of stolen property. He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center and placed on a $20,000 secured bond.

  • Leland teen arrested after driving stolen ATV on highway

    A Leland teenager was arrested over the weekend and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle after allegedly driving a stolen ATV on U.S. 17 in Leland.

    Deandre Vichon Graham VI, 17, of 300 Sunnybrook Way, Leland, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and fleeing to elude arrest Jan. 24.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Detective Mike Murray, Graham, allegedly driving a stolen four-wheeler, pulled out onto U.S. 17 from Green Hill Road in front of a sheriff’s deputy in an unmarked patrol car.

  • District Court Docket

    The following cases were adjudicated over four days of District Criminal Court on Jan. 14, 15, 16 and 20 in Bolivia.

    Wednesday, Jan. 14

    Judge Thomas V. Aldridge presided over the following cases with prosecutor Cathi Radford and courtroom clerk and Michelle Warth:

    Francisco Aguilar, no operator’s license, Brunswick County Jail 15 days, suspended sentence six months, unsupervised probation six months, costs, $35 interpreter fee.

  • Ocean Isle Beach Crime Report

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police incident/investigation reports.

    • Breaking and entering on West Second Street. A suspect gained entry to a home and stole two alcoholic beverage bottles and a drinking glass. The homeowner declined to press charges.

    • Larceny of mailbox on West First Street. An unknown suspect stole a plastic green mailbox valued at $100.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Breaking and entering, larceny and property damage on Exum Road in Ash; suspect kicked in victim’s garage door and stole various tools.

    •Larceny on Port Loop Road in Southport; suspect removed tags from victim’s vehicle.

    •Cruelty to animals on David L Street in Shallotte; suspect shot victim’s dog with a 12-gauge shotgun.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired, driver’s license and criminal information checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances. The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

  • Holden Beach police report

    Holden Beach Police officers issued the following citations between Dec. 22, 2008, and Jan. 20, 2009. All information is taken from citations.

    •Michael Anthony Moreno, 19, of 2407 N Avenida Tabica, Green Valley, Ariz.; cited for failing to stop at a stop sign.

    •Anzhelika V. Goroshko, 24, of 2796 Evans Circle SW, Shallotte; cited for expired inspection and expired registration.

    •Jeronimo Gonzalez Lorenzo, 26, of 3786 Strawberry Way, Shallotte; cited for driving while license revoked.
