CAROLINA SHORES—Just who will assist the town with its code book revision is still up in the air.

Tuesday, the town board of commissioners voted to table consideration of the matter because the town has not properly detailed what is needed.

“Three different people talked with three different consultants and only did price quotes,” said town commissioner Joseph Przywara, who serves as liaison with the town planning and zoning board.

Ocean Isle Beach Aviation is ready for takeoff. Its grand opening and ribbon cutting was celebrated Tuesday at the Odell Williamson Municipal Airport.

Ocean Isle Beach Aviation is a fixed-base operation at the airport. David Hill of Jackson/Hill Aviation said the 10,000-square-foot state of the art facility is equipped with fax and Internet capability, rental car service, a 24-hour pilot’s lounge complete with showering facilities and the lowest fuel price in the county. The center provides hanger space available for rent and employs an in-house mechanic.

SHALLOTTE—A week after being accused of poor sediment and erosion control practices on their vacant land, developers of San Rio Ocean and River Club have withdrawn petitions to annex 78 acres for Phase II of the project.

Wakefield Coastal’s Senior Vice President Jim Wiseman withdrew the requests, which had been pending for the past two months, during the public comment portion of Tuesday’s board of aldermen meeting.

SHALLOTTE—Aldermen have set a public hearing and presentation on the town’s vision plan for the pre-agenda meeting Aug. 26.

At Tuesday night’s town board meeting, the board of aldermen agreed to hear from consulting planner Allison Platt at the 5:15 p.m. pre-agenda meeting. Platt will give a final presentation on the 10-year vision plan and answer questions from the board and the public.

At the regular board meeting the following week, aldermen will consider voting on the plan, according to town administrator Paul Sabiston.
