Shallotte town administrator Paul Sabiston has accepted a job as the city manager in Roanoke Rapids, a city of about 16,500 people, after nearly five years on the job.
His last day in Shallotte is Aug. 14.
Sabiston earns an annual salary of slightly more than $82,000. The starting salary for his new position is $95,000, according to a report from the Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald.
“Nothing’s forcing me to leave. … It’s just a good opportunity. I think I’ll be more comfortable in a larger town,” Sabiston said Thursday.
