The area’s first ChowderFest will be from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Waterford of the Carolinas in Leland.
Competitors range from local and regional restaurants to individual entries from yet-to-be-discovered chefs at home.
The winner will be awarded a $500 grand prize. The event will also include live music, a beer garden, additional food and a children’s area.
There is a $5 admission fee. Kids 12 and younger get in free.
Chowder competition judging begins at noon and winner to be announced at 4 p.m.
