  • Calabash helps battle S.C. house fire

    Extra fire and rescue units, including members of the Calabash Fire Department, were called to a house fire Monday afternoon, May 18, near Little River, S.C.

    A passing Horry County, S.C., police officer spotted the fire about 5 p.m. at the single-family house at 232 S.C. 57 N., also known as Wampee Road, about four miles south of the state line.

    About 5:10 p.m., a second alarm summoned more units, including Calabash, to the scene, said Brian Van Aernem, spokesman for Horry County Fire Rescue.

    Anthony Deanda was arrested on a warrant for arrest on a charge of assault on a female. He was also cited on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license revoked.

    Counterfeit $100 bill reported at McDonald’s on Village Road where it was used to purchase food.

    Alethea Barachiah Harrison, 30, 1817 Little Shallotte River Drive, cited on a charge of shoplifting $52.52 worth of food items from Wal-Mart.

    Terrence Vicheion Jackson, 36, was arrested on an order for arrest on a charge of failure to appear in court on a charge of injury to personal property.

  • Calabash Fire Department report July 2015

    During the month of July, 2015, the Calabash Fire Department responded to 164 calls: eight structure fires, a woods/brush fire, a vehicle fire, two fire alarms, 13 motor vehicle accidents, a water rescue, 14 public assistance calls, two other and 122 EMS first-response calls.
