  • Calabash helps battle S.C. house fire

    Extra fire and rescue units, including members of the Calabash Fire Department, were called to a house fire Monday afternoon, May 18, near Little River, S.C.

    A passing Horry County, S.C., police officer spotted the fire about 5 p.m. at the single-family house at 232 S.C. 57 N., also known as Wampee Road, about four miles south of the state line.

    About 5:10 p.m., a second alarm summoned more units, including Calabash, to the scene, said Brian Van Aernem, spokesman for Horry County Fire Rescue.

  • Calabash Fire Department August 2016

    During the month of August, the Calabash Fire Department responded to 183 calls: 10 structure fires, a woods/brush fire, a vehicle fire, five fire alarms, nine motor vehicle accidents, a rescue, a boat rescue, a gas leak, two mutual aid calls, 16 public assistance calls, an other and 135 EMS first response calls.
