    Darryl Christian Spencer, 27, 705 Windsor Drive, Leland, arrested on a charge of driving while impaired on U.S. 17 South.

  • House fire extinguished on Sunset Beach island

    Firefighters extinguished a fire that broke out inside a house last week on the Sunset Beach island.

    Sunset Beach Deputy Fire Chief Richard Childres said the fire, reported at 7:55 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at an unoccupied house at 410 29th St., is believed to have been the result of a wiring or mechanical issue.

    Fire damages were confined mostly to the kitchen, with smoke damage throughout the structure.

    Amberla Waddell, 60, 1740 Moneyhole Road, Riegelwood, arrested on charges of communicating threats, disorderly conduct and injury to personal property after threatening to cut three off-duty officers with a box cutter, breaking the glass door of a business near Village Road and using verbally offensive language toward officers.
