  • Calabash helps battle S.C. house fire

    Extra fire and rescue units, including members of the Calabash Fire Department, were called to a house fire Monday afternoon, May 18, near Little River, S.C.

    A passing Horry County, S.C., police officer spotted the fire about 5 p.m. at the single-family house at 232 S.C. 57 N., also known as Wampee Road, about four miles south of the state line.

    About 5:10 p.m., a second alarm summoned more units, including Calabash, to the scene, said Brian Van Aernem, spokesman for Horry County Fire Rescue.

    Domestic incident between mother and daughter off Seaside Road. Both parties were advised of their rights.

    Nail guns taken from a job site in Sea Trail. They were recovered Dec. 1 from a pawn shop in South Carolina.

    Breaking and entering reported off Sunset Lakes Boulevard. A safe containing several items was taken.

  • Calabash Fire Department November 2016

    During the month of November, the Calabash Fire Department responded to 193 calls: six structure fires, five woods/brush fires, seven fire alarms, eight motor vehicle accidents, a rescue, an investigation, 24 public assistance calls, two mutual aid calls, an other and 138 EMS first-response calls.
