  • Sunset Beach Police Report Sept. 1-7 2014

    The Sunset Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests.

    Sept. 2

    Larceny reported on Golf Club Drive at Ocean Harbour.

    Sept. 3

    Warrants issued for Derrick Wesley Shepard, 30, of 607 Magnolia Drive, Sunset Beach, for assault on a female, habitual felon and possession of heroin with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver.

    Aug. 22

    Communicating threats, subject called The Brunswick Beacon and made threats.

    Aug. 23

    Heather Carol Watts, 29, 1494 Gurganus Road, arrested on a misdemeanor larceny charge for pushing a cart of unpaid items out of Walmart.

    Mary Kathryn Welch, 33, 122 Wood Ridge Drive, Dunn, cited for stealing items from Walmart valued at $7.88.

    Aug. 27

    James Thomas Batten Jr., 64, 3015 Mt. Misery Road, arrested on an order for arrest on a larceny charge from Brunswick County.

    Damage to real property by someone who threw a rock at the rear glass door of a house on Mill Creek Loop and shattered it.

  • Calabash Fire Department reports August 2014

    During the month of August, the Calabash Fire Department responded to 160 calls: 11 structure fires, seven fire alarms, three motor vehicle accidents, 17 public-assistance calls, one “other” and 121 EMS first-response calls.

    Aug. 20

    Breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, larceny, 908 Resort Circle.

    Aug. 24

    Assault on a female on Seaside Road.

    Kyle James Warren, 35, 1429 Pelican Place, arrested on charges of violating probation, secreting lien property and three counts of driving while license revoked.

    Aug. 11

    Grover Harold Rogers III, 42, 1975 Mt. Pleasant Road N., Mt. Pleasant, arrested on a charge of misdemeanor larceny.

    Aug. 7

    Cornelius Tremaine Washington, 28, 5831 Nixon Lane, Castle Hayne, arrested on a charge of trespassing at Wal-Mart on New Pointe Boulevard.

    James Marshall Gooch, 33, 109 Westover Drive, arrested on an active warrant from New Hanover County on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Leland police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests in the last two weeks. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    The Leland Police Department is investigating a series of vehicle break-ins and larcenies that occurred on Aug. 4 in the Magnolia Greens development.

    Six of the break-ins and larcenies happened in on Willow Pond Lane and four more occurred on Grandiflora Drive.
