    Aug. 29

    Obtaining property by false pretenses by exchanging property not belonging to the suspect.

    Trespassing at a Coral Stone Court residence.

    Okeora Brianna Barnes, 24, of Coral Stone Court, was arrested on an order for arrest from New Hanover County on a failure to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge.

    Aug. 28

    Vandalism by puncturing tires of a truck parked in the Shallotte Presbyterian Church parking lot on Rourk Drive, causing $105 in damage.

    Aug. 29

    Larceny of a business sign worth $1,200 from B. Joseph Causey Jr. Attorney at Law office on Main Street.

    Kristin Marie Randolph, 25, was arrested on a warrant on a failure to appear in court charge.

    Aug. 21

    Avery Scott Burges, 24, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of driving while license revoked, hit and run, failure to stop for property damage and resisting a public officer.

    Ronnie Looney, 34, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of larceny and resisting a public officer.

    Hali Brianna Rife, 21, was arrested on misdemeanor larceny charges.

    Fraud using victim’s debit card information to withdraw $300 from an automatic teller machine.

    Obtaining property by false pretenses by stealing items from Wal-Mart on New Pointe Boulevard and returning them, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

    Lamont Damon Drye, 52, arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving while license revoked.

    Devin Scott Van Natter, 29, arrested on felony charges of breaking and entering and attempted larceny.

    Aug. 15

    Kayla Diane Hager, 22, arrested on a felony charge of obtaining property by false pretense.

    Larceny by forging the victim’s signature to withdraw money.

    Aug. 11

    Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

    Financial transaction card theft and obtaining property by false pretenses by taking victim’s financial card.

    Breaking and entering a motor vehicle and larceny of a $369 handgun.

  • Former church clerk charged with embezzlement

    A former employee of a Sunset Beach church is charged with embezzlement, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office said.

    A warrant shows 46-year-old Darcie Sheryl Kleino, of Fawnbrook Lane in Supply, fraudulently converted for her own use $14,584.33 from a food pantry fund at Seaside United Methodist Church from July 1, 2013, through Sept. 1, 2016.

    Kleino was a clerk and employee of the church, according to the warrant.

    Kleino was booked on the felony charge at the Brunswick County Detention Facility and released July 19.

  • Sunset Beach Police Department Aug 10-16 2017

    Sunset Beach police investigated the following incident and made these arrests.

    Aug. 10

    Gary Pendergraft, 76, of Sunset Oaks Lane, was arrested on an indecent exposure charge. He is accused of exposing himself to female postal workers while they were delivering mail.

    Aug. 11

    London Xavier Galloway, 22, of 2406 Carlton Place, Riverside, Calif., was arrested on a simple affray charge after police were called to a fight between him and his brother.

  • Labor Day Booze It & Lose It campaign under way in N.C.

    State and local law enforcement officers aim to make holiday travel safer during the Governor’s Highway Safety Program’s annual Labor Day Booze It & Lose It enforcement campaign through Sept. 4.

    “Labor Day is a joyous family holiday that should never be marred by the tragic results of a drunk driver,” Mark Ezzell, director of the GHSP, said in a news release. “Law enforcement agencies across North Carolina are partnering with our office to prevent these tragedies by taking drunk drivers off the road.”
