  • Sunset Beach Police Report

    The Sunset Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents.

    Breaking and/or entering motor vehicle and larceny Sept. 29. Two GPS units and other miscellaneous items were stolen from an unlocked car on West Main Street.

    Larceny of building materials Sept. 28. Twenty sheets of bead board were stolen from a work site on East North Shore Drive.

    Breaking and/or entering and larceny Sept. 27 on West Canal Drive. A 42-inch LCD TV was stolen. There were no signs of forced entry.

  • Shallotte police report

    Shallotte police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests in the last two weeks. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

     

    Sept. 19

    Tara Marie Sweetman, 34, 686 Sunset Lakes Blvd., Sunset Beach, arrested on charges of larceny, trespassing and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

  • Calabash Fire Department has 117 calls for August

    The Calabash Fire Department responded to 117 calls in August: six structure fires, two vehicle fires, four fire alarm activations, 10 motor vehicle accidents, a rescue, 85 EMS first-response calls, and nine public service calls, department spokeswoman Honey Shore said. 

  • Sixteen-year-old charged in Sunset Beach armed robbery

    A Sunset Beach teen has been arrested in the case of a woman who was robbed at gunpoint while getting out of her car Sept. 1.

    Alejandro Aidan Rivera, 16, of 908 Resort Circle, Apartment 709, Sunset Beach, was charged Monday with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

    A masked man approached the woman in the parking lot of her 908 Resort Circle home and demanded her money and phone Sunset Beach police said. He ran off after she surrendered the items.

  • Sunset Beach police report

    Sunset Beach police have arrested two people for traffic violations in the past week.

    Thomas George French II, 21, of 4170 Apartment 104, Sunset Beach, was charged Aug. 30 with driving while impaired (DWI).

    Joshua Allyn Priest, 35, of 46 Bradford Lane, was charged Sept. 4 with DWI/no insurance.

  • Three charged with alcohol violations

    SUNSET BEACH — Three people have been recently charged with alcohol violations in Sunset Beach.

    Sean Williamson, 34, of 6714 Cherry Grove Road, Cerro Gordo, was charged Aug. 31 with driving while impaired and an open container violcation.

    Dominguez Carrillo, 29, of 300-1 Thomasboro Road, Calabash, was charged Aug. 30 with DWI and no operator’s license

    Katie Louise Squires, 40, of 1751 Starcross Drive, Shallotte, was charged Aug. 3 with driving while impaired and possession of an open container.

     Deputies investigated the following incidents last week:

     

    Aug. 20

    Breaking and entering, larceny of a television from Trina’s Income Tax Service on Ocean Highway, Ocean Isle Beach.

    Obtaining property by false pretense at Jenny’s Pawn on Holden Beach Road, Shallotte.

    Larceny of an air conditioning unit from the State Employee’s Credit Union on Chappell Loop Road, Leland.

    Larceny of prescription medication on Sherwood Drive, Leland.

  • Fire extinguishers stolen, sprayed

    SUNSET BEACH — Sunset Beach police are investigating the theft of fire extinguishers used to damage property.

    Five fire extinguishers were stolen and injury to personal property were reported Aug. 25. Thirteen vehicles were sprayed with fire extinguishers, according to a police report.

    Three fire extinguishers were reported stolen Aug. 21 from The Regency, 915 Shoreline Drive W.

    Five extinguishers were stolen and cars were sprayed at The Colony II, 908 Resort Circle.

    Aug. 7

    Obtaining property by false pretenses, suspect pawned a two-person kayak that didn’t belong to him for $100.

    Aug. 9

    James Douglas Anderson, 34, 513 Elder St., Parkersburg, W.Va., arrested on a charge of drunk and disruptive.

    Aug. 12

    Damage to real property, a suspect cut a porch screen on South Navassa Road.

    Larceny of a license plate from a vehicle parked in a lot on Carolina Avenue.

    Obtaining property by false pretenses, taking items from shelf to take to service desk for a refund at Walmart on New Pointe Boulevard.
