  • Three arrested for DWI in Sunset Beach

    Three people were recently arrested for driving while impaired.

    •Parna Hopkins, 64, of 1830 Unit 209, Seaside Road, was charged with DWI Jan. 8 by the Sunset Beach Police Department.

    •Virginio Velaz Dominguez, 31, of 8987 Jennis Ave., Calabash, was charged with DWI.

    •Luis Caricio, 32, of 6864 Eastbrook Ave., Ocean Isle Beach, was charged with DWI.

  • Oak Island police warn of break-ins

    Since Nov. 1, detectives with the Oak Island Police Department have investigated a string of breaking-and-entering cases. The thieves target TVs and other electronics.

    Police from Myrtle Beach, S.C., and up the North Carolina coast all report multiple breaking-and-entering incidents.

    Numerous leads are being followed-up on and new leads are reported daily, according to Oak Island police officials.

    Since November, Oak Island police say 43 break-ins, mainly to vacant homes, have been reported. From those homes, 48 TVs have been stolen.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Larceny on Lycia Lane in Ocean Isle Beach; suspect stole item from victim’s boat.

    •Burglary and larceny on Lula Street in Ocean Isle Beach; suspect kicked in victim’s front door and stole radio/TV/stereo equipment.

  • Sheriff’s detectives search for missing Shallotte man

    Update: Stephen Jeffery Stutts was found in Supply on Monday. He has returned to his residence.

    Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a missing Shallotte man.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Del Routh said detectives are searching for Stephen Jeffery Stutts, 25, of Shallotte, who has been missing since Friday, Jan. 13.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

    Shallotte police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Devona Michelle Yount, 40, of 2109 Seashore Hill Road, Supply, was charged with shoplifting at Walmart.

    •Vandalism by slashing tires in the Autumn Care parking lot.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Doogle Lane; suspect removed two chainsaws, a shop vac, a weed eater and a electric tiller from the victim’s storage building.

  • Ocean Isle Beach Crime Report

     

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Larceny on Scotland Street; someone entered master bedroom and removed jewelry including a gold chain and locket, a herringbone necklace with a 2-karat diamond, gold bracelet, charm bracelet with charms, a gold chain and a pink and white jewelry case.

    •Larceny on Second Street; subjects removed four fishing rods without permission.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Larceny from a motor vehicle on Governors Road in Winnabow; suspect entered victim’s vehicle and stole several items.

    •Burglary and vandalism on Main Street in Shallotte; suspect kicked in victim’s front door in an attempt to enter the home.

    •Burglary on Chris Street in Supply; suspect picked lock on front door of victim’s residence.

  • Shallotte Crime

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Holly Elizabeth Woodell, 18, of 1625 Chadwick Landing, Shallotte, was cited for concealing a hoodie at Walmart.

    •Lost firearm on Mintz Street; victim is not sure where he placed his gun during a recent move.

    •Missing person on Willis Street, Shallotte; an Alzheimer’s patient took a vehicle.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Larceny on Seashell Drive in Supply; suspect stole multiple items from victim’s residence.

    •Larceny on Turkey Street in Bolivia; suspect stole victim’s four-wheeler from victim’s front yard.

    •Larceny on Malmo Loop Road in Leland; suspect went behind victim’s residence and stole a water pump, valued at $500.

  • Sheriff’s Office ACE roundup

    The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    From Jan. 2-8, ACE deputies performed 48 traffic stops, resulting in 85 total traffic violations. Deputies also made 23 arrests. Five suspects were charged with driving while impaired.
