  • Ocean Isle Beach Police search for suspect wanted in more than 80 break-ins

    Detectives with the Ocean Isle Beach Police Department and the Brunswick County Sound End Task Force are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with more than 80 break-ins in North and South Carolina.

    According to the Ocean Isle Beach Police Department, the suspect has been involved with break-ins to residential areas, specifically targeting flat-screen TVs and other high-end electronics.

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Breaking and entering, larceny and property damage on East First Street; unknown subjects gained entry into a home and removed three TVs.

    •Larceny on East First Street; someone removed a charbroil grill from under the house.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

     

    Shallotte police investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Shoplifting at Walmart; suspect attempted to steal two 32-inch TVs.

    •Rogelio Magana Hernandez, 28, of 43 Brooks Court, Shallotte, was charged with DWI, flee/elude and careless and reckless. Suspect was traveling northbound on U.S. 17 at approximately 95 mph and increased speed to more than 100 mph.

  • Thefts, arrests in Sunset Beach

    SUNSET BEACH—Sunset Beach police reported the following arrests and incidents, including larcenies.

    Luis Mendoza Bermudez, 53, of 7219 Dale Ave., Ocean Isle Beach, was arrested for larceny on Dec. 29

    Russell Edward Canady, 47, of 546 Market St., Shallotte, was arrested Jan. 3 for a domestic violence order violation.

    On Dec. 16, a mailbox was reported torn out of the ground at a residence on Live Oak Drive and thrown into a car windshield.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Larceny on Beach Drive in Ocean Isle Beach; suspect stole parts off two mopeds and stole three mopeds.

    •Burglary, larceny and vandalism on Dare Street; suspect kicked in victim’s front door and stole two TVs, a computer and a checkbook.

    •Burglary on Lanvale Road in Leland; suspect attempted to enter victim’s residence.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office ACE roundup

    The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    From Dec. 26, 2011, through Jan. 1, 2012, ACE deputies performed 359 traffic stops, resulting in 122 total traffic violations. Deputies also made six arrests. 

    The following suspects were charged:

    •Katrina McDonald, 29, of 409 Glendale Court, Leland, was charged with driving while impaired.

    •Kendrick Bethea, 26, of Blue Teal St., Supply, was charged with driving while impaired.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

     

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Emily Syeabbe, 21, of 4941 Lakewood Drive, Shallotte, was arrested for failure to appear. Subject was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for tags.

    •Fraud on Paisley Drive; suspect obtained the victim’s Medicare card number.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Larceny on Holden Beach Road in Supply; suspect stole money from victim’s store.

    •Larceny on Dogwood Road in Leland; suspect stole a registration plate from a church van.

    •Larceny on Beach Drive in Ocean Isle Beach; suspect stole cash from the Chubby Budha Bar.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office ACE roundup

    The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    From Dec. 19-25, ACE deputies issued performed 59 traffic stops, resulting in 93 total traffic violations. Deputies also made 10 arrests. 

    ACE deputies set up checkpoints at Blue Banks Loop Road, Malmo Loop Road, Maco Road, Lanvale Road, Leland School Road and Ash-Little River Road.
