  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Burglary and larceny of a firearm on Jackson Street in Supply; suspect stole a firearm from victim’s residence.

    •Larceny on Blue Drive in Supply; suspect stole trailer hitch from victim’s vehicle.

    •Larceny on Harbor Drive in Holden Beach; suspect stole victim’s cell phone.

  • Two arrested for Holden Beach break-ins

    VARNAMTOWN—Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and special operations unit worked together this week to take two local suspects into custody in Varnamtown.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said multiple incidents were reported between June and July about motor vehicle break-ins, copper thefts and golf cart battery thefts in the Holden Beach area.

    These incidents generated numerous community complaints and tips that led detectives to the two suspects, Benjamin Carlyle and Justin Varnum.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office drug report

    On June 27, agents with the Brunswick County Vice Narcotics Unit investigated alleged drug activity in the Shell Point area.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said vice narcotics agents searched a home at 1315 Elmers Drive SW in Shallotte, where they seized more than 2 pounds of marijuana, digital scales, plastic bags, marijuana smoking devices and a .40-caliber handgun.

  • Two juveniles admit to rock throwing reported to be gunshots

    Reports of cars being struck by gunfire early Friday morning turned out to be false, when two juveniles later admitted to throwing rocks at oncoming cars.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said detectives investigated the incidents that occurred on N.C. 87 last Friday morning.

    First reported to be gunshots, Stanley said those reports were found to be false.

    Between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. Friday, July 1, the sheriff’s received four calls of reported incidents of damage to vehicles traveling in the area.

    Deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Durvis Way, Supply; suspect stole victim’s credit card.

    •Property damage on Seashore Road, Supply; suspect drove over victim’s mailbox and fence, damaging them.

    •Larceny of an auto on Ocean Sound Circle, Supply; suspect stole victim’s vehicle from driveway.

  • Ocean Isle Beach woman arrested on multiple drug charges

    OCEAN ISLE BEACH—An Ocean Isle Beach woman was arrested on multiple drug charges last week after drug agents investigated a Supply home.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit and K-9 Enforcement Team’s  investigation led to the arrest and citations of three suspects on multiple drug charges.

  • Gas station owner cited for synthetic cannabanoid arrest

    NORTHWEST—Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit continue to cite people who sell synthetic cannabanoid, which became illegal in North Carolina June 1.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said drug agents have been “diligently working to keep synthetic cannabanoid off the streets of Brunswick County.”

  • Incidents reported in Sunset Beach

    SUNSET BEACH—Sunset Beach police investigated the following incidents reported within the past week.

    •Dan Michael White Jr. was charged with DWI and failing to stop for a blue light/siren on July 1.

    •Thomas Whiting Archer, 25, of Matthews, was charged with DWI on July 3.

    •Jonathan Theimer, 22, of Sunset Beach, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and simple possession of a Schedule II substance.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office drug report

    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit assisted officers with the North Carolina Probation and Parole Department on a search warrant last week, which led to the arrest of two local suspects.

    On Thursday, June 23, drug agents assisted probation officers at a residence at 3627 Dogwood Drive, Lot 8, Leland.

    Rashawn Brooks and Kenya Waddell, both of whom lived at the Dogwood Drive home, were arrested for multiple drug charges.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Ocean Highway in Supply; suspect broke into several trucks and stole copper wire.

    •Larceny on Percy Place in Supply; suspect stole victim’s moped.

    •Breaking and entering to a motor vehicle and larceny on Blue Bird Lane in Supply; suspect entered victim’s vehicle and stole money.
