  • UPDATE: Three people dead in Sunset Harbor murder-suicide

    Three people are dead after a shooting incident Saturday evening in Sunset Harbor.

    Sheriff’s detectives believe what began as a domestic confrontation around 9 p.m. Saturday escalated to a double homicide-suicide.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident at the end of Sunset Harbor Road around 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4.

    Deputies found Dennis Blalock, 52, of Sunset Harbor, deceased in the driver’s side of a vehicle at the end of the road.

  • Calabash man wanted for South Carolina thefts

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a Calabash man wanted for multiple thefts in South Carolina.

    Sheriff’s office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said several boat motors were stolen from homes in the Little River, S.C., area between Aug. 20 and Aug. 21.

    During a sheriff’s office investigation, detectives recovered two of the stolen boat motors in Brunswick County, a 60-horsepower Yamaha motor and a 50-horsepower Mercury motor, which have been returned to the owners in South Carolina.

  • Longwood man arrested for Sunset Beach armed robbery

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a suspect for an armed robbery Tuesday night in Sunset Beach.

    According to sheriff’s office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley, around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, a black male suspect entered the Kangaroo on Seaside Road in Sunset Beach. The suspect, later identified as Curtis James Robinson, threatened the store clerk with a knife and ordered the clerk to the floor.

  • Shallotte Crime Report

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

    •Forgery and uttering and obtaining by false pretenses at Coastal Drugs; suspect forged prescriptions for Percocet, Soma and Oltram. The doctor whose prescription pad was used for the prescriptions said he did not write them and the suspect was not a patient.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office K-9 Enforcement Team roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From Aug. 23-29, K-9 deputies answered 11 calls, wrote seven citations and made eight drug arrests.

    The following suspects were charged:

    •Jessica Lynn Williamson, 22, of 314 Orange St., Wilmington, was charged with possession of one-half ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia

  • Holden Beach crime report

    Holden Beach Police investigated the following incidents last week, which is taken from information provided by the police department.

    •Assault was reported on Aug. 19 at the Holden Beach Wildlife boat ramp. All subjects involved declined prosecution.

    •A 30-inch concrete pelican statue was stolen from the victim’s yard on Ocean Boulevard West on Aug. 21.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny were reported on Sandpiper Drive on Aug. 25. An unknown suspect forced victim’s front door open and stole money from the residence.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office drug report

    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a Southport woman for multiple drug charges.

    According to sheriff’s office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley, K-9 officers stopped Gloria Ann Ogundeji for a routine traffic stop on Aug. 26. When K-9 officers searched Ogundeji’s vehicle, they found and seized 57 grams of crack cocaine, which carries and estimated street value of $5,700, Stanley said.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Bridle Way in Leland; suspect stole an MP3 player, a knife and an MP3 player adapter from victim’s car.

    •Breaking and entering on Bridle Way in Leland; suspect entered victim’s unlocked vehicle.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Bridle Way in Leland; suspect stole victim’s vehicle from residence.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances.

  • Supply man arrested by two departments last week

    A Supply man was arrested last week for multiple charges by two law enforcement agencies.

    According to Holden Beach Police Detective Justin Hewett, Johnny Ray Small Jr., 37, of 2012 Ash St., Supply, was charged with breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, larceny from a motor vehicle, two counts of credit card theft and obtaining property by false pretences on Aug. 27.
